Although it didn't start out that way, this song ended up being just a good ol' fashioned love song. Let me know what you think and what kind of production you can hear with this and in what genre it belongs. Thanks, Ricki http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13152670https://soundcloud.com/rickib/stranded-on-this-islandSTRANDED ON THIS ISLAND I’m lost in this moment where time is a friend And what we have started won’t come to an end Where dark gives in to light And common sense takes flight Stranded on this island with you If you hold on to me I’ll hold on to you Keep dancing this dance till the meaning comes through And we both realize We’ve come too far for lies Stranded on this island of truth We’ve jumped in an ocean of potent emotions With eyes wide open, it’s so black and white There’s no room for doubt and no questions about What we’re doing, it feels just right I’m scared and desperately try not to show it I’ve been here before and don’t want you to know it You smile then I’m aware My heart is light as air Stranded on this island Stranded on this island Stranded on this island for two ©Ricki E. Ricki,
I really like this! You did a great job getting it across - nice vocal.
Some cool chord changes. Very effective.
I could hear this as a "mainly piano" radio kind of song - a la Karla Bonoff or Carly Simon... just a tad faster...
I enjoyed it!

Thanks Floyd, glad you like it. Karla Bonoff's first album got me through a rough time of life. She'll always have a special place in my heart.

Nice song. I hear this as folk. Production would be pretty basic: drums, bass, acoustic guitar, vocals incl. harmonies, and maybe some tasteful clean electric guitar. I would definitely emphasize acoustic and vocals but a good backing track would make this song really pop!
Peace, TC

This is one of those "Love Songs" that could fit well in a number of genres. Surprisingly, it could even be done to a Hawaiian theme... then Alison Krauss could turn it into contemporary Bluegrass for you. Well written and I enjoyed your rollout of it very much. Thanks for sharing and best of luck with it. ----Dave

Thanks for the production suggestions TC. I would never have thought of folk for this one. Something to think about.

This is the second song I've read here to-day that's very cool...nice! The only word that stuck out to me was "potent" I wish the word there referred to the ocean more. It reminded me of some solo work of Michael Nesmith's. Good stuff!

I like the melody on this one. It's very sweet. Vocals are good. Took me a while to get used to the slightly metallic word "Stranded" but maybe that'll grow on me. I hear a fiddle in this.

Hi Ricki, This is one of the best songs I've ever heard about being in a serious relationship with someone. The lines are almost like are a renewal of vows. For some reason the inner rhyme ocean/emotion line in the bridge doesn't touch me emotionally like everything else. I appreciate the craft of it, but for me it would be a "darling" I might be tempted to rethink. The musical composition fits perfectly. Inspiring and beautiful. Mike

Thanks for listening Vic, glad you like it. "Metallic?" Not sure what you mean. Good idea about the fiddle, if it ever gets to that stage. Ricki

Thanks Mike, that means a lot. I'll have to think really hard about that bridge line though, not sure where else I'd want to go with it. I'll ponder.
