Hi, I've been putting this together over the last few weeks. I'd like to get your impressions on anything that might occur to you....Lyrics, arrangement, vocals, mix... Sort of a hybrid jazzy feel I'm going for...Please tell me what works for you....I'm trying to finalize a version.... https://www.reverbnation.com/ihor/song/24420499-the-billboard-lifeThe Billboard Life ©Lyrics/Music 2015 I. wolosenko Arrangement Iggyiggy and Tony Vocals :Iggyiggy Guitars; Tony DiGregorio Verse 1 The signs in the sky All high heels and skin Pictures of prizes That I'll never win Oh, they show me How good my life could be Verse 2 I try to ignore them It's so hard to do Pushing my buttons When I'm feeling blue I could try a little harder If I knew that I could win Chorus While the girls with perfect voices Arrive in their Rolls Royces Sing blessings from behind the darkened glass They've run out of loaves and fishes So they feed us dreams and wishes We all watch them .......waving...... as they pass Verse 3 Celebrity faces, Look down and grin Selling their secrets Of how they stay thin Oh, they show me How to be a better man Bridge Where is justice hiding Love cannot be found Rising up together Alone We ....all..... fall..... down Verse 4 Marvelous messages Sacred and real Showing the wisdom Of all you can steal I keep looking up I'll give the wheel another spin Chorus While the girls with perfect voices Arrive in their Rolls Royces Sing blessings from behind the darkened glass They've run out of loaves and fishes So they feed us dreams and wishes We all watch them .......waving...... as they pass

Hi iggyiggy and sophiesophie,
Oh YES -- VERY COOL! It has this swanky, theatrical feel ... like you should be walking through a bunch of showgirls, while you sing and kind of swagger along...

Calvin,
Thanks for your remarks and enthusiasm. I really enjoyed pretending to be a lounge singer!
And we've got to knock back this celebrity -winner take all- drivel that surrounds us.!!

Hi Iggy,
"They've run out of loaves and fishes/So they feed us dreams and wishes" is a great line, surrounded by a great lyric, and some really cool music.
Not much I would change. Loving this..

Iggy, Well you know cool cords and progressions that I don't. And you can play a slinky lead guitar too. And create cool harmonies and mix them in just right. That and you can write witty insightful lyrics too. That and I really like this tune. Tom

Tom,
Really good to hear from you. I must confess the slinky guitar work is my good friend Tony.... an incredible player...
Thanks for the comments on the lyrics etc. I felt that mix turned out pretty well.... considering my limited skills..

Jimmy,
Thanks man! Always feels good to know people enjoy the work you work so hard to produce! It was a fun write ... and a chance to vent a bit of frustration....about the world we find ourselves in....

Hey Iggy, I loved the sarcasm. Felt liberating, and especially in the crazy music world, where you suddenly know everything if you are able to sell tickets!
On the mix, I felt the vocals could come a little more forward, as this is all about hearing the lyric clearly. I loved the backing vocals too and how they underscored the mood. I would have liked them higher in the mix. The gtr sounded nice, but I would dip the volume on it slightly to give more space for the vocals, as they were fighting a little to my ears.

Wow, that is one STRONG chorus to go along with an overall great write. The vocal and slinky arrangement are tailor made for the lyric.
Cool!

Iggy2,
Loved it, what a great smoky nite-club song. You have interesting melodies, almost "Kinks" like in some ways, yet with a little soft jazz thrown in--very cool! Smooth vocals man.

Iggyiggy, this is some slinky, sexy jazz, lyrically, musically, all the way around. Cool is oozing everywhere. Well done!

Kolstad,
Thanks for the detailed feedback. I went into the mix and did a few of the tweaks that you talked about.... I think it helped!!
As for the lyrics, I just call it as I see it.... as ridiculous as that is...

Hi Steady!
Thanks for the feedback and the "Kinks" reference. Ray Davies is such a good writer ... love some of his progressions...Glad you liked the vocals ...a bit of a departure for me...
