A really catchy song, Mr. Becker:
Loved the line about the Ramen Noodles and Ice Tea... but then, there are so many neat lines in this well written and performed song. Thanks for sharing and best of luck with it. ----Dave

Now that is a cool write. And there are really some stand out rhymes in there.
The vocal really nailed the feel for the lyric. The guitar fills were great and the solo was perfecto for reinforcing the mood of lighthearted conflict in the lyric.
Great song to add to our SC playlist.
Yep, enjoyed it!

A fun song, Dave. Cool sound. Nice thin-lizzy solo!

Hi Dave, I love the live mix you've got here. Great mix on the guitars, drums, everything. I love that dual lead guitar thing you do--halfway between Thin Lizzy and The Allman Brothers, LOL..and that tremolo guitar gets a nice hooky riff to play with. I think this is a great lyric and I love the music in the verses. It took me a few listens to feel okay about the chorus. At first, it seemed like the chords and vocal melody weren't working together. After several listens, I think it's fine, but could really be aided by tighter harmonies. But for the most part I'm loving this. Mike

@Floyd ... thx as always for the listen Floyd. It is greatly appreciated. @Michael ... thx as well. I have to admit, I was not particularly happy with the harmony/background vocals on the chorus and didn't feel they were very tight either. Hopefully, I can tighten them up on draft #2. Thx again

Great job, neighbor! Fun lyrics and very catchy music. Love the harmony guitars. I think the story is one a LOT of people would relate to.
Well done.

@Michael, Martin and Colin ... Thx for the listens. It is greatly appreciated. I did a new mix, re-sang the chorus and harmony vocal to hopefully make it a bit tighter. I also substituted a new overdriven solo for the second half of the solo and got rid of the harmony guitar in that section of the solo. Anyway, thx for listening. @Michael Z ... Hopefully the chorus works a bit more now, if you get a chance to listen. Thx ... New link below and in original post ... https://soundcloud.com/gocartmoz/one-step-up-three-steps-back-version-2

This is really catchy. I like the structure of the lyric....short lines with a fun comment about the mentioned detail that “celebrates” your hook really well. And everything is so relatable too. I hear ya on, “A funky twist, out goes my back”...lol. Great way to describe that! I like the detailed, playful lines. The vocal has conviction, nice harmonies and I enjoyed the guitar solo too.

Dave, I always prefer to read a song first before listening. Some songs, like this one, flow so well that you just know it's going to make for a solid tune. Your lyric is just so darn conversational and natural. When I listened, the music did not disappoint. Really well crafted song here. I know I talked a lot about the lyric but your guitar work really shined as usual! Thanks for sharing!

Wow Dave, great production, it lifts and drives the song along. The chorus is a stunner indeed. As usual your musicianship is off the charts, as are your vocals. I can surely relate to the 2nd verse.

Hi Dave!
Yea I'm still kick'n! I found a little time to catch up with JPF. Love the song, cool concept/lyrics for sure. Dynamite guitar as usual with your songs. Like just about everything going on performance & production-wise, but I might take a "slight" amount of reverb or delay off the drum track, but that could be a personal taste thing there, and opinions and ears may differ with those effects.
Nice work friend!

Very cool song and good production as usual.
Great lyrics! Some solid guitar work as well. Not sure I liked the stereo image on that one guitar floating left and right but it did sound cool.
Overall, this is my favorite song of yours so far!
Peace, TC

A catchy song and I always love your guitar work and how you layer the guitars. Tom Petty is great at that. Good one as usual.
