MY ILLUSION

I hold on to the comfort of
The illusion of you and me
And I feel it is by way of it
That I will find the key

But all I can do is plant the seeds
Which will hopefully one day grow
Into the love I felt we might
Have had so long ago

Tried to do things with good intentions
Felt the right one had come along
I thought that you would share the passion
But you sang a different song

Take what you’ve begun and learn from it
Said it was time to spread your wings
At times what you say and what you feel
Are very different things

My illusion is that I’ll be with you
Oh how much I miss you
Since you had to go

My illusion is that you’ll be my new love
My one tried and true love
Oh how I miss you so

What you should discard and what you keep
Can sometimes be at odds
Yet when those emotions do subside
It can be hard to think about

What gifts you’d like to be left holding
Very often you don’t know
I’ve been pulled in many different directions
But I can’t let your memory go

My illusion
Is that I’ll be with you
Oh how much I miss you
Since you had to go

My illusion
Is that you’ll be my new love
My one tried and true love
Oh how I miss you so

We must strike while the iron is hot. Let time go by, and the "window of opportunity" will pass. I have an illusion too!
