This is definitely an Elvis Nash lyric! With an Elvis Nash vocal! No problem there...
However; I don't think the music really fits the rhythm and mood of the lyric. It's too mechanical and piecemeal, which makes the VOX seem forced. Yeah', there's a couple cool production tricks in there, but the overall effect seems very "Band In A Box" to me. Like, whoever arranged this, just picked a beat and made the lyrics fit... Like rap with a few samples strung together. It just doesn't feel natural and "organic" to me.
On the other hand, since you've been known to rap a bit, that may be the effect you're shooting for...?
Then, I think I'm hearing a phasing problem with the reverb? It sounds like echo in a coffee can...
Don't swing your knee out of joint lol... Remember to consider the source of this critique, I'm certainly no pro. But, this lyric deserves a mix befitting your "talk/sing" style.

Ok sends me tracks to sing to made in Nashville . Tracks would be everything your hearing without vocals done in Nashville . Drums guitars ect ect , following my chord patterns I sing it here , he adds BGV's and mix it And were done
Pro songwriters do the same thing They make a work tape and Nashville demo studios record the song The only thing diffrent since I'm the artist , I sing it . They use killer demo singers , Who ever that might be Gavin Their purpose is to pitch the song to whoever , Mine's not... just a artist song
I take what Nashville has to offer for my own purposes Gavin , I know my strengths and weakness'es

Why its just a work tape , We never use them , Unless I wanted to travel to Nashville and record on tracks I write 4 songs a month or so , Its not economically right to travel 4 times a month to Nashville to record I never put much effort in work tapes , Its basically just a idea , A blue print to follow , Then start from there

Thanks for the explanation, Ben. I thought that was probably it. I recorded a couple of songs in Nashville and did something similar, although I sent them rough BIAB versions with home recorded vocals. Also, since Nashville is not horribly far from me, I went through there and sang the vocals there into a decent mic LOL.
I'm in Calif , if I was younger and more confident on the pitching deal , I'd go twice a month and record , To much work They would never sing Clown Fish and Charlie Chaplin , I can sing anything if it works. I'm not concerned what Nashville will sing anymore I'm not knocking Nashville songs , I just can't be them

Melody don't change , just tracks How many have we did together ? Maybe 40 or more

So my ears have been ringing for at least 40 years now. So I bought some medicine , with a picture of an ear on the box and a dropper. So I put 15 drops in each ear . Then I found my glasses , the instructions said 15 drops in water and drink it the hearing has not improved , one ear crackles when wife bitches about music

thats where I sing them , And were going to produce one, on Lions shadow , use Nashville on maybe harmonys , Maybe some other nunaces , Lets see what it needs Dwell was not sung at his studio , But I'm back to Lewis who owns studio 132 , cuz he's more pro than other studio
