Back when I was a teenager, I loved Sade's "Smooth Operator" - and I still do. Ever since then, I've wanted to write a song with that same smooth, soulful vibe. “The Language Of Your Eyes” is probably as close as I'll ever get. The vocal voice you hear is my voice reproduced with AI.

It’s about the kind of connection that develops between two people who have shared a lifetime together. At some point, words become almost unnecessary. A glance, a wink, or a lingering look can say more than an entire conversation.

I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

THE LANGUAGE OF YOUR EYES
https://soundclick.com/song/15268074

[Instrumental Intro]

[Verse]
A little wink and I know the joke
A little stare and the whole room slows
Every blink is a code you wrote
And somehow my heart already knows

[Verse]
When you catch my gaze across the crowd
You don't have to speak out loud
One look cuts through the noise and lies
And leaves me hypnotized

[Pre-chorus]
I've heard every promise words can say
But they all just drift away
When you look at me the way you do
Your eyes tell my heart what's true

[Chorus]
Your eyes speak louder than a thousand words
Telling me things I've never heard
No translation, no disguise
In the language of your eyes

Your eyes say "stay," your eyes say "go"
Your eyes reveal what lips don't show
Every feeling you can't hide
In the language of your eyes

[Break]

[Verse]
When you look away then back at me
You pull me in like gravity
No poet's pen could ever show
The things your eyes already know

[Pre-chorus]
I've heard every promise words can say
But they all just drift away
When you look at me the way you do
Your eyes tell my heart what's true

[Chorus]
Your eyes speak louder than a thousand words
Telling me things I've never heard
No translation, no disguise
In the language of your eyes

Your eyes say "stay," your eyes say "go"
Your eyes reveal what lips don't show
Every feeling you can't hide
In the language of your eyes

[Bridge]
After all this time, you still amaze me
With just one look, you still can change me
No need for words when love runs this deep
Your eyes tell me everything I need

[Interlude]
Oh-oh-oh, your eyes
Oh-oh-oh, your eyes
Oh-oh-oh, your eyes

[Final chorus]
Your eyes speak louder than a thousand words
Telling me things I've never heard
No translation, no disguise
In the language of your eyes

Your eyes say "stay," your eyes say "go"
Your eyes reveal what lips don't show
Every feeling you can't hide
In the language of your eyes

[Outro]
Oh-oh-oh, your eyes
Every feeling you can't hide
In the language of your eyes

You really must market this for a Synchronization License. It is movie soundtrack perfect.
Too long for radio. A short version could probably be easily done.
The feel, the Melody and Vocal Execution have much merit. AI knew what to do with your voice. You can learn to sing it that way.
The 'hits' on THE Hook, the Title Line drive it home. One listen and they'll remember it.

Sade had the most wonderful little combo. They put together very tight arrangements behind her Lyrics, much of which Sade wrote.
I was reading from a Trivia game question cards and one asked,
"What album hit the top of the Pop, Rock, and Jazz Charts all at the same time?"
It was "Promise" by Sade.
I tell people, "If you want to give the gift of music, give "Promise" by Sade.
When I see it in bargain bins I move it to the front. This is the music people are looking for. Ethereal. Exotic. Sade.
And yours, as Guy says, Michael Buble? Possibilities may not be endless, but they are broad.

There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com

Wow! What a surprise! I'm getting feedback! I thought this place was dead.

Thanks, Guy! A Michael Bublé comparison is definitely a compliment. Glad the song connected with you.

Gary, thank you for taking the time to listen so carefully and for the detailed feedback. Coming from someone with your songwriting experience, your comments mean a lot to me.

I'm especially encouraged by what you said about the hook and title line being memorable. That's always the goal, and it's not easy to know whether you've achieved it until someone else hears it.

Your suggestion about sync licensing is interesting and honestly hadn't occurred to me. I'll also take another look at creating a shorter radio edit.
And yes, Sade's music has been a favorite of mine since I was a teenager, so I appreciate your thoughts on what made that sound so special. Thanks again for the encouragement and insights.

Take care - Robert
