Hi folks!
I've got my real audio files all saved and ready. Now how exactly do I make them play on my web page? I have an angelfire web page. I was told to make a metafile first, but I don't know how to do that. Can someone help me?

I had the same problem, Wendell-- but it's actually really easy. The first thing you need to do is go to http://cnet.com and use the search box to find "Realproducer." The page it brings you to should have a free version of it, which has always done a fine job with me. The only catch with the free version is that only users who have the latest version of RealPlayer will be able to listen to files you create. You can buy the full version (which will allow all users to listen) for $176.00 ... I haven't figured out how to get rid of the "version detector" within the program yet. RealProducer will create the metafiles for you. Just select "create web page" when you make your sound files, and then link to the page it made for you-- that's the Metafile. Are the files you have already saved in RealAudio format? If so, you may be able to get around the "new version" hassle with the freeware. Just use the free version to learn how to make the metafile (copy it and plug in your sound file name) and you should be able to get it working. It may take a little while, but you'll figure it out. "Metafile", hm? Those computer geeks and their jargon. The only way I know to set up a streaming Real Media file is to create a RAM file, which is just a text-based "pointer" file you can link to in order to open RealPlayer and have it stream the RM file that is your song. In other words, if I have uploaded a RealMedia file to my webpage at the address http://www.magicchord.com/perfect.rm (this is a real link, by the way) I could link directly to this file, and when a visitor clicked on the link, RealPlayer would open, BUT the visitor would have to wait for the RM file to completely download before it would start playing. However, I can create a RAM file by using a text editor such as Windows Notepad. I type in the full Web address of the rm file and then save this file with the extension .ram. I upload this file, which I have named perfect.ram to my site, and link to that. Now when a visitor clicks on http://www.magicchord.com/Pants_Pulled_Down/Songs_of_Pants_Pulled_Down/Perfect_Line/perfect.ram (it's in a different part of the website here but it doesn't have to be) RealPlayer will open and the song will start playing right away.
