While the Day Is With Me
The pines are nodding, the wind's blowing north a wildcat on a far ledge paces back and forth but something calls softly for me to come home a pint of sweet spirits...an old book of poems but soothing as rum and rhyme can be there remains life in the hills that I must see
while the day is with me while the day is with me
I've heard that time heals all wounds but age so I should find a path 'fore darkness draws its wage for like a hummingbird over daffodils the sun hovers above high western hills but lazy hearts are a snare of the light so my hours wane but I won't plan for night
while the day is with me while the day is with me to show me what life should be
now death is neither a friend nor a foe just a coachman who takes you when it's time to go but some pray their rooms'll be dark...their dreams'll be deep that death will slip 'neath their door while they sleep but if I hear that pale horse approach I want to salute the hills and board that coach
while the day is with me while the day is with me to show me what life should be
(c)2003 Robert George

I love this kind of lyric from you. The imagery, atmosphere and message all weave quite the spell. I can't pick a favorite line...too many of 'em. Nice work.

Rob! A very nice personally interpreted lyric....my only nit is that the first chorus leaves off the third line as in the other choruses......great lyric! ------------------ http://www.songramp.com/homepage.ez?Who=Sharon

"If you are stuck in your musical composing, be unreasonable. Change your environment. If you are stuck in your lyrical efforts, instead of forcing the same old words out, force yourself to do unreasonable things." -Brian Austin Whitney
