Sara Evans ©2004 Corey Parkman
v.1 Knew I was in trouble when she smiled at me that way She had a devilish question on the brain She asked “Do you ever wish I looked like someone else?” I said “You think I’m answerin’ that, you’re insane”
Lift Later in the night, she asked me one more time After I’d had a beer or two I said “Baby, you know I think you’re fine” But I guess if I had to choose
Chorus I’d wish you looked like Sara Evans She looks real good in those jeans She sings just like a songbird and that sexy smile just gets to me Girl you’ll always be my angel in our little slice of heaven But you asked me to be honest I wish you looked like Sara Evans
v.2 Knew I was in trouble when her sweet expression changed Started dreadin’ a night sleepin’ on the couch She said “It ain’t right girl looks so good after 2 kids” She flopped down on the bed with a silly pout
Lift I guess it was the beer that made me say it I thought it might give her a laugh I shoulda known that I’d regret it But hey, she’s the one that asked
Yeah I said... I’d wish you looked like Sara Evans She looks real good in those jeans She sings just like a songbird and that sexy smile just gets to me Girl you’ll always be my angel in our little slice of heaven But you asked me to be honest I wish you looked like Sara Evans
Bridge Maybe I deserved it Though she started it in the first place She looked at me and said (with a devilish smile on her face...)
(Changed Chorus) I wish you looked like Kenny Chesney He looks good in those tight jeans I wish you sang like Gary Allan that gritty voice just gets to me Boy you’ll always be my sweetheart You’re pretty hot but I’m confessin’ And honestly, you had it comin’ I wish you looked like Kenny Chesney

Hey Corey, Cool song. I know it's made up, cause no guy would be dumb enough to answer that question if he was sober enough to speak ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) Bill ------------------ We too often throw around the word "great" like it was a frisbee, instead of the manhole cover it should be.

Cool song, Corey. Of course, it does require a certain suspension of reality. I'm with Bill....I can't imagine how much a guy would have to drink before something like that would fly out of his mouth. Though, it should ring a bell with lots of folks. Lord knows, people are always asking questions they really don't want an answer to. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/wink.gif) Good work, as usual. Corey, this is too cute. Love the imagery and I can't wait to hear it!!!
"Grits is one of those country-boy words that is both singular and plural-like deer, elk and sheep. I think the singular is appropriate when there's a modifier that makes it clear one is talking about something specific. Like, 'Grits are good for you, but these here grits is tasty.'"~~Joe Wrabek

Thanks Bill... and you're right. 'After ...a beer or two' is probably underestimating the guy's alcohol intake before commiting such an unthinkable error. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/wink.gif) Corey

Hey Randy and thanks. This is all rhetorical... or something. Hell no would I answer that question, but I imagine a lot of wives would be elbowing their husbands when this song came on... and then pumping their fists at the last chorus.

Looks like you split the gender gap with this one...the women love it, and the guys say, "God, I'd have to be really drunk to say something as stupid as that." Now, if you could figure out how to bottle this, you could sell it to the guys...they could use it for bait, so to speak.

Corey, This absolutely rocks!! Love this idea inside and out. It's fun and it's kicky and I could see this being a fun "duo" kind of song like Tobey Keith and Willie's song or the one by Allan Jackson and Jimmy Buffet (Five O'Clock Somewhere). The ladies will LOVE the hell out of this. This one's a "touche" for the girls at the end. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/wink.gif) Best of luck with this one. Howdy Corey, Yep..I think most married folk wonder about this..but most wouldn't want to know the answer. However, my philosophy is that fantasies are probably healthy. You can always be on a diet and still appreciate a fine menu. Doesn't mean you hafta eat everything ya see. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/wink.gif) Cute song. Think this could go somewhere. Now where is Mel Gibson in this? Hmmmm. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/biggrin.gif) Bobbie

Mornin' Jennifer. My wife doesn't have any crushes on country stars as far as I know, but her mother is in love with Kenny Chesney. Glad you enjoyed my goofy lyric!

"..After I'd had a Beer or THREE/---/But since you keep ASKIN' ME..."
There, Corey...that's what I'd suggest-- TWO beers ain't believable, so Lather Him Up a bit More...

Hi Cindy. Thanks for the read and kind comments! Maybe Brad Paisley and Chely Wright could do a duet on this one. I wish. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) CP

Corey, Yeah! Only thing I suggest is add a few more "hotties" in your last chorus....lots to choose from.......Vince Gill, Tim McGraw, Joe Nichols, Alan Jackson, Keith Urban...et al. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif)

Looks great, Corey! Only one minor point: The title seems to suggest that the song is going to be ABOUT Sara Evans, which it's not really. Although I'm partial to short titles myself, this one might be better served by calling it, "I Wish You Looked Like Sara Evans," in keeping with what the song is truly about. Just a thought that may not matter in the grand scheme of things. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) Excellent writing, as usual. Greg

Thanks Greg. Good to hear from you. You may be right... but "I Wish you looked..." gives too much away... I like a 'mysterious' title that doesn't explain itself too easily. I could be wrong though.

Hi Janine. I don't write music and haven't found a composer for this one yet, so there's no tune to hear. When/if I do, I'll make sure to post it!

Corey I have been in that situation before in a relationship where I've tried to be open and broad minded, saying "Yeah he's really cute, and she's sexy" but it just backfires into an ugly green monster on both sides. I wish I could be stronger than jealously, oh well.
Also, Kenny is my friend, so this could have been a fun joke on him!

Corey
I will make a deal, but it's not an easy one, and will take work.
I will play this song for Kenny, if you can collaborate, kind of like a competition where you're the judge.
This may take some time for you, but I have known Kenny for many years and will be friends for many more. This is not a race.
As you know, Kenny would never -sing- this song because it would be pompous of him! But this is a perfect opportunity to network. After I've played the song, and we've hopefully had a giggle, I want it to be good enough for him to say:
Did you write that? And I'd say, no Corey did. Who composed it? This awesome composer did. Who is that playing the fiddle? That's so and so.
So, the rules: There must be a different credit for each of the following: Writer: Corey Parkman Composer: ???? And each instrument contributed to the song. Good enough to be an understudy for any of his current band members. Because, God bless them, they are only human! I will list each person's name and contact info clearly on the CD. Also, you must receive AT LEAST 30 "entries" for each category (composer, fiddle, bass, etc) before you choose the winner of each category. Maybe you or the administrator of this site could set up a thread for this collaboration. Secondly, all winners must split the cost of the demo, unless there is someone who wants to donate studio time for credit. Anyway, all those details are up to you. Make it good. I would also suggest that people donate and vote on a different title.
I don't live in Nashville, but we have been friends for a while now. When I spoke to him last week, he said he was *trying* to visit in March, I will *probably* visit in April, but he will defiantly be here in the beginning of May. so aim for May as your deadline.
So... that's a lot of "ifs", but if you are up to this challenge, I will play your song to Kenny. It might be a fun three minutes, or it might be a step towards him hearing your other lyrics. It’s up to you.

Janine, please email me at coreyparkman@msn.com to 1) make sure you're serious & 2) explain a few of your 'details' which are a little confusing. (I'd email you, but you don't have a listed address)
You've definitely got my attention.
