Well, I'm back from LA & my 10 Minutes of Fame are Over....about 20 of the 50-60 people invited who wrote Chapters in the "Music Horror Story" book were there...including Harriet Shock ("Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady") whom I befriended, and Mandy Martin-Fox, who now manages (Among Others) the Lead Singer from Flying Burrito Brothers & still remembered me from my Earlier Days Out There 20 Years Back. As did John Brahany..LA Songwriter's Showcase Founder/Best-Sellin' Music Book Author..& oldtime Chum. So it began to feel like a "Homecoming" of sorts--
Highlight of the evening was a Roast/Toast with Legendary Writer Jack Segal..24 Million Albums-worth sold on His Songs..."When Sunny Gets Blue" and "Scarlet Ribbons" beiin' among The Biggies..(Tho my FAVORITE was one he got cut by Sinatra, "HERE'S TO THE LOSERS"...) He & I (& 2 Other Guys I befriended) were the only Guys Wearin' Caps at the Whole Shebang...so there was some Instant "Bonding" went on..heh-heh! Jack had a LOT of Helpful Hints to aspiring songwriters that came out as the Tributes went on (He's been Coachin' Young Writers for MANY of his 83 years!) "Take the time to find that Perfect Rhyme" was the quote that stuck with me..SOUNDS somewhat dated, yet I think he still may just HAVE something there!
Gotta add that JPF Mentor Janet Fisher wss the Beauty & Brains behind this Whole Shindig (And Jack's new CD, And the Horror Story Book, and the CD it Spawned) and she did it ALL SO Well! I made many a New Friend outta this brief trip' look forwards to gettin' back to this fun town a LOT sooner than 20 yrs from now, you betcha!
Here's a Song that one of my Hotel Rooms inspired, second night there...heh-heh!
It was gettin' late I was New in L.A. With my Credit Card Expired...
Just had a Few Bucks Cash Midnight was comin' fast Down Ventura Boulevard
The Studio Place Inn So Kindly Took Me In For My Last Fifty Dollar Bill
Indian Gal was Winkin' I could Tell what She was Thinkin' 'Cuz my Room was "Built-for-Thrills!"
(CHORUS) Yeah, My Bed's "TRIPLE-WIDE" ROLLED BUMPER PADS On All 4 SIDES "24-Hour PORN"..On TV... CHAIN MARKS on the 4-POSTER BED Where I Laid my Head But..There's NOONE IN THE MIRROR But ME!
L.A.'s a Lonely Town When You're First Gettin' Round 'But there's LOLITAS Everywhere...
Still I'm Too Tired Tonight To Seek The Party Lights But I admit "Temptation's There!"
(REPEAT CHORUS)
(BRIDGE) I watch Folks Writhin' on my TV Set All of Them Are Havin' GOOD Times... But I'm as Lonely..-as-I-Can-Get Still watchin' my Nickels & Dimes...
(CHORUS, Changed) And my Bed's "TRIPLE-WIDE" With Rolled NYAUGAHIDE SIDES "24-Hour-PORN" on TV... If I Hear One MORE "GROAN" I'll Book the NEXT Flight HOME 'Cuz there's NOONE in The MIRROR But ME!
(TAG) I Look up Into SPACE Just See ONE LONELY FACE... Because There's NOONE IN THE MIRROR But ME...
(ADD) NOONE's IN THE MIRROR..BUT Me.....

Welcome back, Stan! I saw this title and thought you were gonna get introspective on us. What the heck was I thinking!? ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) This is really great! Sounds like a great place you were staying in. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/rolleyes.gif) Only nit is I'd change the Indian gal line to something more generic. Good to have you back, Stan! Ricki

Fun little number Stan, nothing like reflecting on your loneliness surrounded by toys that need friends to make them come ..er alive
Glad you had fun and had a chance to meet some useful people.
Had no real problem with Indian gal, but understand the point. And is that how you Yanks spell no one?
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

LOL Stan, got a real kick out of this baby! Ran? smooth as a whistle! I agree with Ricki on the Idian thing. Generic would be the way to go. Also agree with John NOONE? But then I'm just a southern boy. Oh hell, you are too aren't ya? Hmmm? Cool song!

Stan, looks like the trip made it good for you. Got one good hot number out of it already! Hmmm.... I finally figured out in the last of the lyric that the darn mirror was over the bed! Dense or what?! John, I didn't know a guy livin' in Florida would be considered a Yank? I live in Ks. and I'm not a Yank and those that live here that are Yanks don't spell no one like noone, anyhow. Tee Hee Good to have you back on board, Stan.

Thanks Ricki!
Good to be Back!
I had a tossup between Indian GAL & Indian CLERK...with SHE in next line indicating gender of the Clerk...
Guess CLERK gets the nod in place of GAL, OK? :-)
Great to be back to a Normal Place...LA's fun to visit...Pace & Pressure there is Hard on a Person...JMO, Natch! (& it's Even Lonlier than in This Song...heh-heh!)
Big Hugs & Thanks for the Feedback, Stan

Ahem. What happened to:
"Take the time to find that Perfect Rhyme" was the quote that stuck with me..
SOUNDS somewhat dated, yet I think he still may just HAVE something there!

HIya Johnny!
Yep, "Noone" is a Word, just like that! (I think!)
Maybe The Mountain Muse'll correct me on that...but I been writin' that Combo for Ages like that. KNOW "Nobody" is a Single Word...
Glad you enjoyed the Lyric..Yeah, it WAS fun returnin' to my Ol' Haunts 2 Dacades After....hasn't changed much, except instead of the Sweatshirts bein' Pierced (It was "Flashdance City" mid-'80') it's Ears, Lips, Eyebrows, Tongues, etc.---and TONS more Tatoos! (Ugh!) LOTS more Building Walls with Giant Advts, a la NYC...& ANGELINE is STILL on LA Billboards...just her FACE these days, heh-heh! Sunset Blvd's as Tacky-as-Ever, but seems Lots Calmer! (Corporations have replaced Moguls all over Movies AND Music, it seems!) NOT as "Vibrant"..JMO...as was Nashville...Blame The Economy, I guess!
Big Guy-Hug & Thanks for Checkin' in, Amigo! Stan

Hi Rodder!
OK, I'll use "Clerk" after "Indian"..OK? At EVERY LA Hotel I stayed in, ALL of them had Indian Nationals runnin' the Place...so thought it was a little "Inside Touch" on this song about LA Lonliness...
There's a Special Sleeziness to Tinseltown that I get a Kick out of... not that I've YET ever got any REAL Kicks out of the Place. I'd say Loneliness IS the One REAL "Constant" in L.A.---"Careers" come FIRST in that pressure-filled Environment...
Hope Bobbie comes thru with the Definitive Use of "Noone" tonite!
Gotta Scoot to Sue's Session tonite! Big Thanks for the Feedback! Big Guy-Hug, Stan

Hi Sharon!
I actually got TWO goodis out of that Weird Hotel Room...tho I'm savin' the Second One for Friday, I hope, as it's a pretty spicy QSO..."BABY'S GOT A SPEAKIN' PART"...
I added that TAG just In Case "Noone" got the Gist of the Humorous Aspect of that Mirror...guess I'm Glad I Added It, heh-heh! :-)
Thanks for The Feedback, Kind Lady! Big Hug, Stan

Hi Stan.... Hmmmm....just 4 of you with caps? I have to ask....the kind you wear on your head or on your teeth? Would have thought more teeth than that are capped in LA (LOL)! Anyway....cute little song, here...and I like the concept, albeit a tad spicey on the info end (LOL). You've already made your decision on Indian Clerk, so I won't offer an opinion on that. As for NOONE....well, I used to be a radio reporter, and only once when I was applying for a job did someone ask me to read live (instead of just using my demo tape). The word NOONE was in the script they gave me....and it was spelled like that. I don't know if it's right or wrong....just that I've seen it that way before. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif)

Thanks for the Input, Sunshine! Hope ya got that Annnouncin' job, Trick Line & All on The Exam!
I sorta Flunked Last Nite...had penned a line in "MY LAST DOWNER SONG" that read "NONE But HANK Himself/who knows how I feel"...and TWICE ended up singin' "NO-ONE" there (As it NOW Stands! Sounded Less "Stilted", so we just let it sit!)
Probably need more'n Caps on My Teeth if I offend "Indian Clerks" here, right? Well, at least they're Hindus, not Muslims (For the Most Part!)...heh-heh!
LA's got a REAL Polyglot Situation there...& PLENTY of Mexicans Too, to keep things Lively & Spicy, Ole!
Thanks for The Feedback, Ohi-a Gal! Big Hugs, Stan

This is really cute, Stan, but hell, you probably knew that already! ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/wink.gif) I've noticed most motel desk clerks nowadays are of Indian descent. I'm not sure why or how that came to be. But saying the clerk's nationality is a bit of a distraction, so I'd describe her in some other way. And I love that tag! Clever stuff there. Thanks for the fun read! (Too bad that mirror was empty! ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/wink.gif) ) Anthony

Hi Anth'!
Even in the Simpsons TV Show, they got an Indian Guy runnin' the Conveniance Store (The OTHER Place they seem to Show Up Incessantly..)--I just thought it'd add a bit of Genre to it...& it's so Typically L.A.! (I stayed at 4 diffo Motels over the 4 days, & 3 outta 4 were of Indian Descent.) (All the "Hired Help" seems to be Mexican there, too...)
Yeah, WISH there was a Twosome in that Mirror, but La Femme had to stay behind & tend to the Clock Shop in my Absence, and I've been nurturing (Gasp!) a Conscience over the Last Decade, somehow...:-)
Big Thanks for The Feedback, Glad you Enjoyed the Read, Big Guy-Hug, Stan
