Hi Folks,

I am back from Florida. It was a tough and shocking and enlightening and harrowing and exhausting last 2 weeks. It was impossible to even think about trying to keep up with everything around here, so hopefully over the next week I can get everything back on track. At some point I may try to reflect on the last few weeks here, but not yet.

We're in the final week of voting for the Lyric Award first round. Less than half the entrants have voted, which is a bit disappointing. I think last time we had around 80%. There's 1 lyric on 1 particular page that already has enough votes that it's impossible for it not to move to the next round. Otherwise, it's a tight race on every page. On one particular page, every single lyric still has a shot to be in the top 3.

This is also the final week to enter videos for the Video categories. We haven't even checked out the last months packages that have come in for that, so we're hoping there's a lot of great stuff so we can move forward. I am sure we'll have a short form video category as we did last time, but the other video categories are up in the air.

I am not 2 weeks behind schedule for the rest of the awards. All I can do is plug away and move forward as best I can. The nominations may not be out until September. Better to do them right and late than get them wrong. It will be crucial to get voting discs out and then votes back from everyone as quick as possible. Last time we were still receiving final votes the week of the awards. It's a large task to get 4000+ judges involved. Watch for info as we start to gather addresses to ship voting discs. Also we are planning to post mp3's of all nominated songs on a password protected area of the website for those who can vote via online screening. I am guessing by the time the 2008 awards roll around, we won't be using CD's for much of anything.

So thanks for the all well wishes and concerns. I am very happy to be home and back among the folks.
