Very nice sound, guitar playing excellent! Without the lyrics visible, I can't say much about them, but they sound good with the music. Vocals are good, a little pitchy in places but nothing way out. One rhyme stood out heart/apart, one of those overused rhymes that maybe could be changed. Really enjoyed the listen!

Byron,

Liked the guitar, not so crazy about the slapback on the vocals. I'd consider replacing that with a two or three voice harmony line that comes and goes in the same fashion. Might make the tune sound a little warmer overall, which in turn accentuates the subject matter.

Thanks,
-paco

Thanx for the feed back
really easy to do the guitar when you do it one track at a time but hard to play and sing at the same time since it is off beat with the vocal...and yeah i really do need to work on my vocals don't practice near enough like i used to.
thanx again and God bless Bob

Frank,
I used the midtones following on the vocal for an experiment...I had never used it before and thought it would be novel and that is what it was just novel thanx for being candid and some of my friends at home have said the same thing...that i should use some harmony in place of it...
thanx again

Byron: This has an infectious groove, but from what I hear of the words, you need to find some original ideas/rhymes..as mentioned heart/apart and I add love/glove taken/mistaken etc. You might try collaborating with someone on the lyric board whose words you admire. /Glen

Love the guitar work here. I think it deserves some bigger lyrics, like "southern man" or , what am I trying to say here, a theme..

You are so right Glen. What I fall into is the fact that I come up with the tune first alot of times then write around the tune with what ever I am feeling at the time...sometimes i hit sometimes I miss

Louis,
this seems to be the general consenus of most that listen to this song. That's what happens when you write a song around a tune in about 20 min

Byron,
I really like the guitar groove and melody. It's a good song. For some reason this comment comes to mind... "I can hear this as a filler song on a CD" Please take that as a compliment as that is the intention.

ps. i can relate to singing and playing at the same time. not only is it hard doing, but it's hard to find that balance.

Byron,
Ok, got it, listening now.
I found the song on your MySpace site
Byron Mathis
http://www.myspace.com/byronmathis
but not on your "diskfaktoryjams.com" site.

Anyway, sounds great, nice groove; I like the tempo of this.
Might want to post the lyrics at the topic on your song post for this.

Talkin' About Love - cool tune!

Michael

the cleaness of the guitar has to do with the way it was recorded. I used an NKT RODE'tube mic and an NXT 2000 RODE large Diamphram condenser mic that is built for studio use... the tube mic was pointed at the fret board where it joins the body and the condenser the width of your face back towards the back saddle. the tube was panned right and the condenser panned left. This gives a realistic stereo effect just as if you were sitting in front of the person while he or she playes...both mics were at a flat E.Q. .I did the same with the vocals. Just ast your ears are apart on you head so were the mics set up in front of me and again both panned to their respective side if you were looking at the person from the mics point of view. This type of stereo imagry although subtle makes a big difference in the end result.
The guitar used was a 00CXAE Grand Concert by MARTIN.What is odd about this little animal is that it is made out of composite materials except for the neck which is laminated wood and of course the bracing and perlings in side are standard spruce and to top it off it is a "thinline Guitar " only about half as deep as a d-18. It also packs a on board fishman 5 band eq and saddle pick up which sounds great but I did not use it. What you heard was ambient only..

This is another nice acoustic guitar tune! Your style sounds a bit like Stephen Still on this (one of my favorites) - wish I could play that style. I'm looking forward to hearing lots more.

Thanx Clint

I fell in love with the Acoustic when I first started listening to Chet Atkins when I was 9 years old and heard him play a song called Yankee Doodle Dixie one which he played yankee doodle on the bass strings while he played dixie on the high ones at the same time. It took me about 6 months to learn it when i was in my twenties and people are amazed when they hear it. It taught me how to rethink the way I play

Hi Byron

I really like the sound of the acoustic... Nice feel, it reminds me of a hard rock kind of song. Nice job all around the timing was a little a drift as well as pitch.
But the timing more so...

feels honest & heartfelt
good work!

Thanks!
Peace Mike

Thanx Mike,
I did not use a click track...I thought I would let it "breath" as for the Pitch...that's me... on some days off the next...this was one of those off days and I had only enough time for 1 take...I really appreciate your candid feed back
