Please give a listen and comment about this newer song I write called "Fly Like an Eagle". Folkish yet mellow. A song of hope!
Thanks,
BOB

It's long at 4:31 as I recall Muskie. The intro could be cut in half but that's only about 7 seconds. The instrumental interlude takes some time. Playing live, all this is fine. For radio airplay, it would cut into their commercial time.
The lyric doesn't seem to hook me with a compelling story, although it rhymes well enough. The first line is longer than others and the word "Just" isn't clear, losing 'hook factor' from the very beginning. It may be a matter of enunciating more clearly or dropping that word altogether. "Face Of Love" might be a more prominent phrase, occupying the strategic last line of the chorus, and being the result of the 'flying,' thereby earning the title honor.

Hi Muskie. I thought this was a good write. Seemed to need a little something to accompany the guitar in my opinion, especially at the instrumental break?? Not sure. Just a thought while listening. Take Care. Steve

Hi Bob -- Nice sound! First time to hear you so I checked out some of your other songs as well. Great guitar work and nice voice as well with a hint of Gordon Lightfoot. Like this one, The Pot of Gold, In The Garden and more. Good stuff.

Thanks,

KEvin

Hi Bob

Pretty guitar and tone. I would like to have had the title been "In This Place"
Fly Like An Eagle made me not want to listen. If you were gonna shop it for any reason
that would be something to consider trying. Nice song and voice!

Thanks!
Peace Mike

"I wanna fly like an eagle... to the sea
Fly like an eagle let my spirits carry me" I don't know how you are going to surmount the Steve Miller classic. If there is anyway you can change the title, I would recommend it strongly.

Very pretty song, Bob. I think this is the first time I've heard you use harmonies. I liked them. One thing, I'd play with just to see how it sounded: Keep the harmonies on the first and third lines of the chorus but drop them out on:

Searching for myself
Who am I

and

Reaching out to touch
The face of love

Not that they sound bad - might just add a nice counterpoint though to sing melody only on those lines. Might not work any better than what you have - dunno....

Nice to see you back with something - and an enjoyable listen too...

Hey Bob,
Fly Like An Eagle is another suberb effort. Yes the title has been used before and yes it's a little long. It doesn't diminish the enjoyment you obviously had when you recorded it.
Gary must be an Industrial Engineer (my former occcupation, complete with stopwatch & clipboard). He suggested I cut the 3rd verse of "She's All I Need" to shorten it to commerical standards. His feedback is invaluable if and when I start selling my songs.
Peace be with you

Neol,Butch,Scott,Louis,Samuel,Mike,Kevin,Steve and Gary,
First and formost,,Thank you for taking the time to listen to this new song. Today the song reached #2 on the Soundclick Acoustic Folk charts which surprized the H,, out of me. It appears that the song was well received at present though I know all to well that it to will sunset like all the songs here... Thanking you is about all I can do to show my appreciation... When I recorded this I personally didn't think that it would be so well received so I never took the time to fine tune all the glitches within the song. It is a rough cut diamond I guess....
I threw on three guitar parts and one voice with two harmony parts. That's all!! Took maybe a half an hour to do. Named it,, which by the way was quite a battle within to do as well.. and here it is. Crazier things do happen!! Even I know it's not a quality recording,, but it sure was fun to do. The words flowed out from nowhere and the melody followed. Granted,, they don't all come out so smoothly as you all know... But this one did!!
Thank you for being a part of the music here at JPF,,,
Respectfully,
BOB

Pretty, simple melody. I think the title "fly like an eagle" suits it. Another title that popped in my mind was: "Face of Love." I'd say just a touch shorter -- yet over all nice tune smile.

Great job!

Kimberly,
I thank you for your nice compliments. I appreciate it very much..
I also thank all of you who are listening... This song is presently number ONE on the acoustic/folk charts at Soundclick.
It probably won't be there long but it sure makes me happy..
Thank you all,
BOB

Bob,

This is a very nice song. I think most of us can see through the rough cut deep enough to see and hear the quality of the composition. I agree with Scott about the harmony...using it on only the 1st and 3rd lines. That would keep the chorus constantly refreshed. I'm not one to quibble about a title that has been used before, or one that is very similar. Heck, I recently wrote a crying in your beer, honky tonk country song called "Hit Me With Your Best Shot". I really don't think anyone is going to confuse the two! Go with the title that works best for you. Nice song!

Hey Muskie,
I guess i can't really say anything else that hasn't already been said. But your voice gave me the shivers (in a very (wow) good way)! haha...if that helps you at all.

I really enjoyed the song.

Hi Bob - Congrats on the #1! Very cool! 30 Minutes? That must have been fun. BTW, I couldn't help notice your "muskie" login - are you a fisherman perhaps? I was born and raised in MN till age 11 and miss the lakes to this day.

All the best,

Kevin

Lovely song Bob. Peaceful and mellow. Didn't seem a moment too long to me. Guess it's a question of whether you want radio play...which I doubt...I think you just love to do this, so you can safely make up your own rules about length and titles!

Alan,Robert,Kevin, and Gerry,
Thanks for your comments,I appreciate your words of wisdom always.
No, I'm not a fisherman,,, I really should post a song about that part of myself and the luck I don't have. I could be in a boat in Northern Minnesota with many other people with their lines in the water next to mine and they would catch their limit while I would pull in a log or weeds. I really do have a song I recorded called "Wish I Could Fish" which actually is quite funny for an audience.
Of course I'll get radio play,,,Ha! Ha! and you're right,, I never think about that. Great songs never have a time limit and I've noticed again and again that alternative radio stations no longer cater to this commercial thought process.. They want people to listen...
As always, I value all your comments and thank you for listening to this older guy from Minnesota..

To ALL of YOU,
Thank you for listening and commenting on this song.. You helped to make it number one for the time that it was there on top. It is with much appreciation that I'm writing this note as the song slowly but surely heads on down the ladder. Like all songs....But,,, The important part is that I say THANK YOU ALL for all the time you have given me...Thank you!!!

Kevin,
Yep!! I have many more in the hopper as they say. I don't know about the hit part so much but I did enjoyed the small ride on the ladder. How I got to number one is really incredible. Now the song is heading Southbound. Hey, good luck with your writing as well. It's not easy getting heard especially by the right ears to bring a true success... However, My success is satisfied by and with all the songwriters here just fine..
Take Care,
BOB
