Kimberly Cardarella is a talented song writer and musician from Pahoa Hawaii. She has been listed missing since July 27th, 2007.

I was wondering why we hadn't heard back from her?
Is this a hoax involving the police dept?

Maybe Brian can help us figure out who "Pixie" is?
Also, is Kimberly now officially reported as missing?

Hey folks this is Kimberly's Cardarella's neighbor corinne a.k.a "pixie". Anyhow I'm just trying to help out but putting out the word of her disappearance with her on line friends. Her family is very worried about her. And her friends in the community here are truly concerned. Clyde The Cat misses her very much too so we all pray for her safe return! By the way Pixie is a beautiful 15 year old tuxedo cat that lets me wait on her hand and foot...

That date seems wrong as I have a bunch of emails from her dating July 29th. So she was emailing on that date. She kept asking us to delete a post but wouldn't tell us exactly which post nor give her actual name. We told her that we rarely delete posts, especially when threats are being made (as in her case) because we need the info for the record in case legal action or police action needs to take place. She apparently contacted some folks with suicide threats on the 29th, but if she was already listed as missing, that doesn't seem to jibe. My concern here is that this is either an entire hoax (i.e. it was never Kim emailing us in the first place) or if it WAS Kim, that all of this has been staged because she is/was mad at people who responded to her posts here. If you're a real person Pixie/Corinne, then contact me via a PM with your full name and phone number and also the phone number and names of Kim's family and I will share what info I have with them. I am also happy to speak with law enforcement officials if they are searching for her. I'd need a name and number which I could call them on. If she has really disappeared, especially before the date we received these supposed contacts, then the info we have is likely important.

Based on the Hawaii police report, it looks legitimate to me.

revised: I don't know, maybe this is a hoax. I would think that the police department links would be .org, not .com. I did look at the Hawaii Police main webpage and it is a .org.

revision 2: Looking at the .com site it really does look legitimate. If it is a hoax someone went to great lengths to include many pages of details you would expect to find on a police website. The .org site looks entirely different, so why both? I don't know.

I am not suggesting that the disappearance is invalid. I am suggesting that it may never have been Kimberly who posted here or who sent us a bunch of rambling emails (with some pretty nasty claims against her own family) along with a suicide note a full 2-3 days AFTER she was listed as missing.

It could be her. If so, she disappeared but kept emailing people on this site which seems odd. Or she could really have been mentally distressed and perhaps she followed through on her threat. Or, maybe it was someone involved with her life who posted those things to cover up her disappearance which certainly the police would want to know (and emails are easy to trace and I have them). Or she could just be causing all this herself. All the possibilities are troubling. Either we have a very troubled woman or some equally sick person pretending to be her. And it's even possible that the disappearance reports are false. I've seen missing children posts for example that are fake but get thousands of people involved. I did find it odd that Pixie mentioned Kim's internet radio show on her post about her being missing. That doesn't sound like something a concerned neighbor would much care about if a person is literally missing and a manhunt is going on. Anyone else notice that?

So Pixie, please send us your info and contacts for the family and police and we'll be happy to share the info we have to clear up this entire thing.

And if anyone else out there is looking for Kim, (this post shows up on searches for her name) then please contact us.

Hi to all of you, I have just happened upon this thread, read through it, and I want to say that I hope that all things turn out well for everyone involved.

I have a situation that in a small way is similar, but not to the point of considering the ultimate fate of someone.

My 8 year old son is somewhere out there, maybe in Japan, maybe wherever...in some country somewhere?

As people have expressed their words to me about stayin' strong, lookin' up even when the whole world feels like it's crashin' down on me............

Now I would like to extend that same sentiment to all of you.....

I hope that she is found (or returns on her own) safe and sound.

My thoughts and prayers are also extended upwards for her and her family.

I'm glad to see some acknowledgement on this issue. Thank you so much Brian for running interference & trying to get some answers. I still hope Kimberly is safe.

I've been in contact with Kim's sister. Someone thinks they may have seen her hitchhiking days after she disappeared and her note to me saying she was overdosing obviously wasn't accurate since she wasn't found at her place. I forwarded all the info I had. It's clear that Kim has serious mental health problems and hopefully her family will find her and can get her some much needed help. She apparently sent an email to the Boston Globe as well. (No idea why).

When someone displays her level of irrational thoughts and behaviour, it's best in my opinion to stop engaging them unless you're a trained professional. Adding the complexity of the internet and anonymity etc. it's even more dangerous to even try to help. What can you do for a mostly anonymous stranger without taking a risk that you'll make it far worse?

I haven't heard back from her sister or family or the police even though I offered up the emails. Quite odd that no follow up has happened. Her sister said she was checking in here, so perhaps we'll get an update. The entire thing has been weird.

Brian: My name is Steve Goodenow. I have been a private investigator in Hawaii for over 40 years. I have been hired by the family to determine if Kimberely Cardarella is OK. The family is very concerned and has hired myh firm to do follow up with the County of Hawaii Police Department, neighbors, etc. We have posted (Missing Posters) the Kailua-Kona side since we had some information that Kim had friends there and may have stayed their in the past. We know the police are doing what they can to locate Kim and individuals who may have information are asked to contact the police at 808 961-2385.

There are some active leads that are being checked. Obviously the family is very concerned and doing everything in their power to locate Kim and provide her what assistance is reqired.

I will check this web site from time to time. My "handle" is Hawaii PI. I must admit that I am an older guy with little Chat Room experience so bare with me.
