Iggy did a nice one as well he should post it here so others can hear. I think he's sitting there on Ourstage all by himself Like the nowhere man "We are making all our nowhere songs for nobody" lol Ha! Yeah I've been On stage all alone for a while! Here is my "all alone" version. I recorded it two days after losing my job so I really was Nowhere. Good now though! It's Getting Better All The Time! http://www.ourstage.com/embed/popup/PGJTWBQYFBGZ?autoplay=true&index=1&playlist=true

Yeah I'm a bit confused about all of this Nowhere Man stuff, but still it's really cool to hear eveybodies versions! Great stuff I'm hearing.
Funny, I'm typing and realized that Now Here and No where are spelled the same but mean two different things? What's up with that?

Cool stuff Mark and Iggy ! No nits there on either track. Now the question must be asked, are there any more loosers out there, sitting in their home studios, contemplating their navels, belting out old Beatles numbers ? Must be a few thousand I reckon. Where are they ? Hey Mark, can we all use your graphics ? That'd cunfuse the heck out them ! More please ! cheers, niteshift

Here's mine. I suspect it's been influenced by the other songs I've been posting recently http://www.ourstage.com/embed/popup/KDVWBYEYAGFX?autoplay=true&index=1&playlist=trueListened to Iggy's and Mark's - very cool guys! Off to listen to Geoff's and Jim's versions. EDIT: Whoa, those were unexpected. Very cool interpretations, Jim and Nite. Scott

Scott! That was sweet. The ukulele/banjo vibe reminded me of George Harrison who was obsessed with ukuleles and always carried at least two so you could play one too. But also a good lonely delivery, kinda dramatic in a nice way. In fact, when the harmonica comes it, you can almost hear Lennon's pal Dylan chiming in and filling in the crossword puzzle of influences...or was that Neil Young...nope. Scott Campbell for sure.

OK I will start a post later marked Nowere Man (official entries only) I ask that people only post details of their Ourstage entry. Comments and other stuff can be kept to this thread. After all entries are in we lock the thread and start a poll where all the entries can be voted on.

I played my rough mix for a friend tonight after a session. A Beatle FREAK!!!!!!!!! The biggest I know and boy I know a few. I'm one myself, but peanuts compared to this guy.
He HATED IT! just as I knew he would. That's how I was 100% POSITIVE it was good!

Good idea Jim, just keep this thread open for a bit of fun.
Is there any way to keep the voting secret ? In that way, you could announce the results AFTER the Ourstage results. That would give a true comparison between the two.
Scott, will listen to your track this evening.

How did you do the vocals ? Hey Mike, similar treatment to what you did with Stevie. It actually took quite a lot of work, but was technically possible, so I gave it a shot. ( and I can't sing, so it was necessarary ) Notice that the track is in the same key, although runs 30 bpm faster ? Looks like you're up next. Roughs are Ok here, bloomin' perfectionist ! Hey Scott, yep, that's unique Scott Campbell. Just really listenable. Can't say anything more, just don't change it ! I gotta say, I'm really enjoying this. Every track completely different, and a different take on things evey time you pull a song up. If everyone could make a high quality 256k mp3 available at a later date, that would be cool, all the songs would get put into their own little JPF desktop folder on my puter just for kicks. cheers, niteshift PS - great musicianship everyone.

Hi Kaley. Entries are for the March Ourstage Covers comp. It is only fair judging wise that they should be posted no later than March 1st. You can enter a song for March anytime now...just indicate when you enter what month it is for.
The more the merry.

Confusing Nowhere Man threads.
Okay so when your done with it do you put it HERE or on the "Official Entry" Post where no one has posted any music links so far. But there posted here....
Or is it only post it on the "Official Entry" thread once it has been submitted on to Our Stage. Wouldn't that have to wait till March?
Anyhow I'm FINALLY done with it only have to decide between 3 mixes.

Hi Mike The official entry confirmation thread is a quick reference point so we can all easily see who has entered. It should only be used for Ourstage links once you have submitted your entry to Ourstage.
You can upload your song to Ourstage anytime prior to March. You designate which category and which month you wish to enter it into. I think it only fair that all songs should be registered before the comp starts so they start on a level playing field rather than jump in after the judging starts.
This thread here is for general Nowhere Man discussion.

OK Mike. Once you have posted your song and entered it in the Ourstage March comp post a link in the Official entry thread (THE ONE THAT NOBODY HAS ENTERED YET LOL) you can also tell us a bit about your entry and discuss it here on this discussion thread.
Sorry about the confusion. I thought it would be a good idea to keep a separate entry thread so we could see at a glance who has entered and have a quick link to find their song easily without having to plough through all the discussions and comments.

Hi Jim Thanks again We may only end up having like 10 entries total for Our Stage I may just post it up on the boards here & and this thread instead. I do LOVE a challenge that's why I challenge myself everyday. And I usually lose ironically lol... I wanted to test myself doing things here that I have never quite done before. And it really really helped me mentally. Thanks again!

LOL okay we'll see by March then Here is my version of " Nowhere Man" 3:20Produced & in my home "Submarine Studio"www.substudiomusic.com/NowhereManMix2.mp3He's a real nowhere man, Sitting in his Nowhere Land, Making all his nowhere plans for nobody. Doesn't have a point of view, Knows not where he's going to, Isn't he a bit like you and me? Nowhere Man, please listen, You don't know what you're missin', Nowhere Man, the world is at your command. He's a real nowhere man, Sitting in his Nowhere Land, Making all his nowhere plans for nobody. Doesn't have a point of view, Knows not where he's going to, Isn't he a bit like you and me? Don't worry! Nowhere man please listen, you don't know what your missin' Nowhere Man, the world is at your command He's as blind as he can be, Just sees what he wants to see, Nowhere Man can you see me? I tried to enter Ourstage for March but it doesn't have a March option, so I entered for Feb, and I guess it will roll over..... unless Ourstage rolls over first. LOl

I tried it myself you are correct. I think it may be too early in the month. I do not think it automatically rolls over. I think you will need to re enter for March later. Keep checking to see when it unlocks MARCH. Bestof Luck.

It would appear that on Ourstage they are not yet accepting March entries..... unusual.....bummer...No prob folks please upload your Nowhere Man entry anyway and then enter it as soon as the entries for March competition open. PS It would also appear that there is no way to give a proper link to your song...so a link to your fan page will do ...it means additional searching for the song but hey life is not perfect...it also helps get folk to look through your other stuff...as a hidden bonus. Best of luck... If anybody is experiencing difficulties submitting their entry Mark will sort it out.

Hey Ant,
Very mellow mate. Great baritone voice you got there. How did you treat the bv''s ? Really cool effect.
Jim, if you right click on the "play" button, and copy and paste the link, I think that works.

Thanks Noel and niteshift.
For the bg vocals (cool effect I agree) the hard part was getting the higher harmonies not to fight with the low lead vocal which had a hard time cutting through. It was a happy accident, I was trying to add some reverb on the bv's and pushed it almost to 100%. Sounded cool so I kept it. Specifically, I'm on Logic. I grouped the bv's and used PlatinumVerb, 51% dry, 87% wet. Used Speader to push the bv's to the sides (again to get away from the lead in the center). Finally I used Chan EQ to cut out almost all the low-mids and mids so the lead can be heard through. On their own, the bv's are incredibly thin sounding.

Another cool challenge occurred to me...I wonder what we'd come up with if we all composed music for the same lyric? We'd pick someone's lyric, we'd all take a month to write and record our own version, then we'd post them on the same day. And there they'd be, all these different ways to skin a cat.

I am up for that. Brian suggested in an earlier post that we choose a fellow JPF members song and cover it. I like both ideas.
BTW still cannot post an Ourstage entry for March Yet.....that is VERY unusual.
