Nub, I don't mean to pile on because I agree with you on a number of issues regarding illegals, but don't you think your fixation on this issue kind of borders on obsession? An obsession on borders bordering on obsession? Midnite

Nub, in the case of the illegals, I agree they should not get anything but a big boot out of the country and go back to that toilet they came from. Mr. Barnett might be an admirable person if he had maintained his cool and not held the Morales (US citizens). In that case, he set himself up as a vigilante.
Congress because of their inaction, should be paying Barnett's fine out of their retirement funds.
The government is not doing shi# about this problem and why the hell isn't this [naughty word removed] gov. of ours not doing anything about these friggin illegal grints. They don't want to because maybe they are in someone's pocket. You think?

No, not at all...It's a major issue here in Ohio as well. I'm just saying that this is about your 10th thread or so on the subject.

I think I said this before.
Nobody really cares. People in this country have sat back and whined about this problem for twenty five years. Just like they whine about offshore manufacturing and not being able to buy anything made in America.
They don't care that their Health costs have skyrocketed because they are paying for Illegals to be treated for free. (California alone had 5 BILLION dollars in health care related costs to illegals last year) THAT's $5 BILLION. but nobody cares enough to actually do anything.
We are a nation of whiners. Not fixers.
Of course it is all starting to come around and bite us in the ass now. It was only a matter of time til it did. Now they want the government to fix it for us. The Messiah has come. We will be saved.
But they will still go to Walmart and buy a radio made in China. Or they will go to the Local supermarket and buy grapes picked by Illegals from south of the border.
NOBODY CARES enough to actually do anything about it and when they do they get charged with a crime like this Barnette fella. As long as we keep doing the same thing we will not get a different result. Of course we could refuse to buy anything not made here. But we all know that ain't going to happen. Why spend $3000.00 for an American made Les Paul when you can buy one made in Taiwan for $300.00. And the sad thing is 99 percent of the people can't tell the difference when they hear one or even play one.
Hell I am part of the problem. I own eleven guitars. ONE is American made. A 1970 Harmony Archtop I have had for 37 years. The rest are all made in Asia, Indonesia or Mexico. I have several Amplifiers. Only one is American made. An Ultrasound acoustic Amp.
I should Smash them all and go buy an American made Wechter...Oh! wait. Wechter finally sold out too. I can buy a Wechter made in China.
It reminds me of a joke I heard once about two fathers arguing over who had the laziest kid. The one guy looked over and saw this kid sitting on a stump. The kid was crying. He asked the kid's father; "Why's your boy sitting there crying?"
The kid's father replied; "he's sitting on his nuts"

Bill I for one ain't not one of those whiners I'm part of the do'ers the ones who at least make an effort to try and help.I think if there were more that tried to help then the problem could be solved ! Ok enough said because looks like to me that I am like one of the dinosaurs a so called extinct species but remember dinosaurs never went away or else nessie and champ wouldn't be still news.I own 2 guitars both made in America by Americans, would not own a foreign guitar, my next one will be a 60's Martin or if I can find a good deal on one maybe a Gibson from that same era.

Nubbin,
I've got a buddy with several 60's and a few 50's Martins. They are EX PEN SIVE.
I agree that it's a problem that needs fixing, it's just that we need to be careful we don't fuel the stereotype of the trigger happy border vigilante. Better to argue from the general and from the positive.
We will be safer without illegal border crossing. Our economy will be better. Make those arguments, not "there's this guy who held some folks at gunpoint, most of whom were illegal, but some of whom were U.S. citizens who he thought were illegal because they had brown skin." Even if that's not completely true, that's how it looks in this case. It's a bad example. It gives folks for illegal immigration a better argument.

like I said I'd rather have the Barnett type doing something and sending a message to others that he does protect his property and the borders even if he seems radical , he's apprehended 1000's now tell me who other than him is making their civil duty to protect the borders from illegal aliens of any color(that includes white too for those of you who don't think there aren't illegal whites)So if it takes a few lawsuits against an individual like Barnett to make our government aware that they aren't doing their job so be it!!

Nubbin,
A thousand illegals, or 10,000 make no difference at all. We're in a public relations war. When Congress and their money folks...especially their money folks...feel the heat from the voters, then they'll move. But Barnett's losing more voters than he's gaining. He's popular with the extremes, but not the centrist. He's not even popular with most of the gun owner community, and we're pretty darn conservative.
Of course, do what you want, but I guarantee the best way to get folks on our side is to argue from the general against the particular and to keep the argument positive...how much good will come when the border is shut and the illegal employers stop hiring undocumented workers.

Barnett is very popular with those of us who want to try and keep these illegal aliens out, and he is showing others that since our government refuses to close our borders and ports there are some who will at whatever cost it takes!I'll take 1 Barnett for every 100 Al Sharpton type people any day
