I really like this type of music and you're doing it great. Solid instrumentation and overall sound. I'm traveling so I don't have too much time, but I wanted to stop by and say "Pretty dang good!" Loving the fiddle stuff and the harmonies worked out well.

Great lyrics, very moody with just enough subtle rhyming and alliteration, great fiddle, good vocals. I love this type of music and you've done a very good job with it, Uncle Steve.

Thanks for the listen and kind words. The band is actually me and my fiddle player Rich who just happened to walk in. I've come to a point in my songwriting where I write and play with no direction, expectations or agenda, just let the song go wherever it goes. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but it's always fun!

Thanks for listening. I'm happy to hear the comment on the lyrics. I use to fuss over lyrics and stress out trying to be clever and follow the rules but no more. I just sing words that sound good. I'm thinking that this has a "backcountry despair" overall feel to it and that's fine with me.

Rarely do I enjoy lyrics without the music. This is an exception. I read the lyrics along first and was very impressed. Nothing obvious but nothing forced. Terrific writing. Then I listened and was delighted that the music and vocals do justice to the lyrics. This is a powerful song. It is well crafted in the finest sense.

I can't tell you how pleased I am about the lyrics comments. Like I told Kevin and Jonoker, I've struggled with lyrics for years, drove me crazy! Then I stopped struggling and just started singing what sounds good!
Sometimes it's nonsense but sometimes it feels better than right.

Very, very nice indeed! I really like it. The only nit I have is that the vocal somewhat fades as you get into the chorus/refrain. Other than that, top notch all the way. I'm liking it a lot!

Thank you very much,that is a fine compliment from a fine writer. As far as the mix, I've been recording in what I call "Free style". That is hitting the record button and letting whatever happens, happen. If things work and feedback from JP Folkers and others are positive then I'll go back and re-do it.

I do hear what you're hearing and I'll make sure to fix it in the next go round.

I like the earthiness of this, Uncle Steve, and the musical breaks in there. Really creates the mood for the lyrics.
