The goal of our "Song Challenges" is to write songs/lyrics on demand within set parameters. We don't critique each other's songs in this thread (but you can say you like someone's song if you want to.) Please post your original works. If you have already written a song/lyric that fits within the parameters, please feel free to post it.
Here are the parameters: Use the name of at least one tool in the chorus or mention a tool or tools in most of the verses.
Have fun.

Verse 1 Been procrastinatin', all summer long, It's about time, we got it done, Paint's a peelin', get to strippin', Found the scrapper, you've been missin'.
Verse 2 That compressor, buried in the corner, Leaks a little, got to warn ya, Paint is stacked, on the garage rack, You'll find brushes, in the back.
Chorus Fire up the Treagor Baby, I'll call the kids, Then head to Costco, buy more ribs, This house needs a facelift get the powerwasher started, We'll have a family barbeque after the painting party.
Bridge 'Tween the kids and us we'll finish fairly fast, After all we bought paint, year before last.. It's the weather.. for a family get together.. Lets get workin' honey sooner done the better.
Chorus Fire up the Treagor Baby, I'll call the kids, Then head to Costco, buy more ribs, This house needs a facelift get the powerwasher started, We'll have a family barbeque after the painting party.

I couldn't resist, it was my 1st thought when I saw the challenge, but I thought if I wrote it, could I post it? So, I wrote something else 1st.
I played around and wrote it anyway, so I thought what the heck it's all in fun.
Bachlorette Tool Kit
Verse 1 Bachlorette party invite in the mail, Needed a gift that would make her wail, Been best friends for many years, We've shares kicks and laughs and tears, Weekend she'll get her last "hurrah". Before she takes that long walk.
Verse 2 Headed on out for the adult store, Wishin' I could have gotten more, Stripper guy I couldn't afford, Would have been the best reward, This'll be better come to think of it, Just a little bachlorette tool kit.
Chorus Will she tie him down with teathers of leather, Tickle him with a feather, Rub him up with lotions and potions, Wedding night she'll have the motions, If he drinks too much and that night ends, Got a me-chan-i-cal boyfriend.
Bridge She'll get a good laugh and a bright red face.. With games our other friends made to play, May tuck her tool kit 'way in the closet, Maybe she'll keep it, she may toss it, After all it was just in fun.. Little gag gift 'fore married life begun.
Chorus Will she tie him down with teathers of leather, Tickle him with a feather, Rub him up with lotions and potions, Wedding night she'll have the motions, If he drinks too much and that night ends, Got a me-chan-i-cal boyfriend.

I have never done this before, I don't think I did it right but I enjoyed the challenge
I held you in my hands Watched you wither Watched you break I scavenged this here land With a helpless heart For hopelessness' sake Had I been a painter I would have painted you Had I been a blacksmith I'd had welded you with tools
Bye, bye, baby Bye, bye, baby, Bye, bye baby Broken baby doll
I held a strand of hair Watched it glisten Watched it shine I listened to your heartbeat Beat faster close to mine Had I been a sculpter I would have made you smile Had I been a hero I would have no denial
Bye, bye baby Bye, bye baby Bye, bye baby Broken Baby Doll
I wish the tools to save you were in my hands Not hanging on a wall
Bye, bye baby Bye, bye baby Bye, bye My broken baby doll
Porcelain breaks and shatters When you fall
Bye, bye baby Bye bye baby Bye, bye broken baby doll
The Lost Years

You are a little outside the parameter in that you mention the people who are associated with tools" painter, sculptor, blacksmith etc. rather than the tools themselves but since you do mention tools elsewhere and the listener can fill in the implied tools, I think you did fine.

Pry Me Loose (off the top of my head for fun...here goes)
Sharpen up your dampened wit by laying off the booze I just don't want no more of it or your not-so-charming schmooze
Gotta hammer out our problems here but it's hard to find the nail Been too long since this all of this went wrong and I feel like I'm in jail
(Chorus)
Give me a file so I can break out of this misery I'm in Cut thru the bars of this relationship Till I am free again.
Don't need a pardon from you baby Just a screwdriver will do then maybe I can use that thing to pry me loose from you!
(Verse)
My nerves, they have been sanded by the roughness of your heart And I know that I've been handed a man that's torn apart
I really deserve better while I'm still in my prime Lovin' you has been so bad I feel like I've been doin' time
(Chorus)
Give me a file so I can break out of this misery I'm in Cut thru the bars of this relationship till I am free again.
Don't need a pardon from you baby Just a screwdriver will do Then maybe I can use that thing to pry me loose from you!
(Bridge) I'm boltin' cuz you're just too nuts all yer screws are loose, you crazy putz!
(repeat chorus)
"And, in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make." Paul McCartney

LOL, Heidi! Great variety in your toolkit. Thanks for posting. (You even got some painting terms in there.)
