I woke up last night with this melody stuck in my head, so this morning I put some words to it ... it needs work for sure. Thank you my friends (I am no singer, I try)

Lights on the Sea
by Dan O'Connell

I saw the lights on the sea we were dancing to music its just you and me
I can see the waves, I can feel the wind
Our bodies softly moving to the sound that lies within
I can feel my heart, its beating like a drum
In the quiet of the moment our bodies move as one

I saw the lights on the sea
reflections of sart light in the warm summer breeze
I can hear your voice, wisper in my ear
shades of darkness falling and I'm so glad were here

I saw the lights on the sea

Chorus
Every night its the same old dream I'm taken to that place
The warm sand on our feet and locked in our embrace
Dancing to the music of the wind and rolling waves
The star light off the ocean, refects upon her face

I saw the lights on the sea
Noone around us its just you and me
I can feel your warmth, Your softly flowing hair
your gentle hands upon me
in the warm and salty air

I saw the lights on the sea

Chorus

You should wake up with a melody in your head more often. This is awesome. You have a fantastic voice, very easy to listen to. I'll trade you two cats and my first round pick in next year's NFL draft for your voice.
Loved this song.

This is a really cool song. I'm a sailor, and I can see lights, too. Great job on the vocals. It's just a smooth, easy listening tune that captures the imagination.

I wonder where all these folks were hiding. The level of talent here has increased a lot over the last couple years.

This is a very pretty song. A beautiful love song. The tenderness of the lyric matches perfectly with your voice and music.
I wish I could wake up with stuff like this in my head.
All I usually wake up with is feeling like half the Russian army just marched through my mouth with muddy boots.

Hi Dan,

Peaceful/beautiful/very nicely done.

Lot of people wish they could sing as good as you just did.
Take a bow.
You're quite the entertainer.

Have a good weekend.

Hi Dan,

Sweet! Lyrics, music, vocal, very sweet. The tiniest of nits, in the chorus, you sing,
"reflects upon HER face..."
In the rest of the song, you're singing to her, not about her. I think it would have more impact to say,
"reflects upon your face..."
Just a thought.

Really nice love song with a melancholy touch in the second verse, nicely written and a lovely folk-pop melody. Well done, you should be happy with this creation.

Really nice, Dan. I've spent a lot of evenings sitting on the beach and you have captured the feel really well.

Yeah, too bad about your voice. Tell you what - big hearted guy that I am, I'll trade you. grin

Seriously - you have the perfect voice for the kind of songs that you do.

Has a great soothing feel to it - nice one DanO smile

Hi Dan,

I think you have a nice singing voice too! I really like the melody. Like the others, I like the rich softness of the words and music.

Really enjoyed it!

Dan,

Well done! I'll take a voice that is heart felt and truly sings with emotion any day over someone performing vocal acrobatics with no soul! I got caught up in the lyrics and melody as well. Great Job! You showed WNY good!

I think it's a nice song and works well with the lyric.

Your singing voice is actually very pleasant. In a few places, I think it would be worth experimenting with the singing melody slightly to make the note changes more distinct. Staying within the existing chords, though, I mean. I suspect that it's your nervousness about singing that steers you away from doing that, but your voice is fine so just work on bringing out the melody that's already there.

Hey Dan, I really enjoyed your song and the simplicity of the recording.

It reminds me a little of "Streets of London" by Ralph McTell, a song I adore.

Nice job.

This has a really lovely melody Dan.

I don't really have any nits except I think the 2nd verse should stay 1st person. And I think you should consider repeating the 1st verse instead of the 2nd. The 1st verse seems stronger to me lyrically.

This is a really lovely song.

Peace,

Ian
