Is anyone still using Myspace for networking? Has it been replaced by Facebook? Are there any other 'new' ways to network with songwriters and musicians?
I would love to hear your feedback!
Thanks, Samuel

as announced-Myspace is laying off half of its employees-so even they are switching to Facebook.....that pretty much says it all........Myspace has pretty much become Death Valley

Hi Sam Somewhere on here recently we had a whole thread on that. But I'm a terrible searcher. I can't even find a 9V battery in the house to change out and stop this Carbon Monoxide alarm from ringing. I hate that, is it the battery or the poison? needs a better alert clearer message than "move to fresh air" when it's the BATTERY AGAIN! My Space is dead but it's features are still WAY cooler than Facebook!

I use both, and I like the interface of Myspace better for bands. I hardly log into my Facebook unless I have a huge announcement to make. There's no customization whatsoever for bands on their Facebook page (you can't change the page colors, the layout, add background images, etc), unlike Myspace, and I'm noticing more and more indie bands are using their Facebook page as their main site. Ick.

I have now grown sick of MySpace. Their site is terribly slow and buggy, and I get all kinds of irrelevant stuff.
The other day I wanted to delete my profile at MySpace, but I have not been able to log on the site in more than a week!
They may be dead already..

Most people use them both and Twitter and anything else that comes together. Facebook will be replaced by something else next week. They are all equally as horrid, billions of people out there advertising on any site they can get on.
I use them both and wish I had never heard of either of them. They are nothing but advertising other people's gigs, hearing continuous rants from people I don't know, getting appeals for money, benefit requests and one long diatribe of other people's opinions on whatever social issue of the day is out there.
It is just like computers, the Internet, and cell phones. I hate them because I like face to face or one on one communication. And both Facebook and Myspace are by very definition none of that. But you have to participate in life.
Part of the deal.

@ Marc, I feel the same. However, living in a small town, I need some type of platform for networking. I use Facebook for personal communication and hate annoying all of my friends with my band promo. I have been out of the country for the last three years performing and am looking for a way to tap in to my local scene.

Samuel,
I am in the middle of networking world in Nashville and you still need to use them. We have to face it that they are essential. I, like you hate to bombard anyone with anything, because of all the people that end up on my sites, but it is what you have to do these days. Like I said, just like the Internet itself, it is here and you have to deal with it.
But I don't have to like it.
Good luck to you.

While I still have a Myspace page I don't use it. Facebook now has music pages.

Ditto. I killed my MySpace last week. I sent out a message to all 450 "friends" letting them know where to find me on Facebook. ONE person came over. A Facebook PAGE helps you interact with fans without bugging your personal friends unless they "Like" your Page. There was a big thread on this, let me bump it so I don't repeat myself too much here. Look for it. I prefer face-to-face talking too, but this is how we're living.... I have texted my kids to come to dinner......... Linda

I'm with M.A.B. A necessary evil unfortunately, and yes, Myspace is dead.

Youtube kicks them both. Where Susan Boyle and Justin Bieber were discovered? At Youtube they are done. If you're performing artist then there are no better site then Youtube, to get discovered and to build your fan base.
