This song is for the history page of the walterswetlandbank.com
website. I didn't like what the chorus or the title in the liv-in in the country lyrics.

Lived a little country life.
All rights reserved

Dad grew up in town, bought a little dairy farm.
With an old rickety barn, filled with lots of charm.
Asphalt covered the house, like an ugly blouse.
Dirt floor cellar, home to curious mouse.
Dad never got the chance, to finish liv-in his life.
Spend those golden years, with his beautiful wife.

Lived a little country life.
Try-in to beat the rain on a cloudy day.
Put-in up a little bit a hay hay hay.
Where switch grass grows ducks in the sky.
Saved a couple potholes for the children too.
Lived a little country li li li life.

Mother sold some land, after she lost her man.
Raised youngest two alone, wasn't part of her plan.
Made a deal with fish and game, ten year terms
They moved some dirt around, built a couple berms.
Beginning of a bigger plan, to preserve a little land.
Childhood memories, where old trees stand.

Lived a little country life.
Try-in to beat the rain on a cloudy day.
Put-in up a little bit a hay hay hay.
Where switch grass grows ducks in the sky.
Saved a couple potholes for the children too.
Lived a little country li li li life.

Two thousand mile away, liv-in in L A.
Spent fifteen years , watch-in potholes disappear.
So I bought the rest of mother land, with a plan.
To collect rain and melting snow, run-in off the land.

Lived a little country life.
Try-in to beat the rain on a cloudy day.
Put-in up a little bit a hay hay hay.
Where switch grass grows ducks in the sky.
Saved a couple potholes for the children too.
Lived a little country li li li life.

Lived a little country life.
Try-in to beat the rain on a cloudy day.
Put-in up a little bit a hay hay hay.
Where switch grass grows ducks in the sky.
Saved a couple potholes for the children too.
Lived a little country li li li life, lived a little county li li li life,
Lived a little country li li li life, lived a little country life.

Hi Scott,

Some technicalities:

I'm still tryin' to figure out this sentence of yours: (?)
"I didn't like what the chorus or the title in the liv-in in the country lyrics."

AND ABOUT
Try-in
Put-in
Liv-in

or any verb where you want to drop the "G" — it is an apostrophe that is used to indicate both the pronunciation you're after and the missing 'G'.
Tryin', Putin', or Livin'

The only time you would use the hyphenated "Liv-in" would be as in this example of usage:::
"Sally is my live-in maid." In other words your maid lives in your house as well.

Also your copyright notification as per sonwriting industry books or according to the Library of Congress, would be:

Hi Scott,

I've never heard the pothole phrase, though I think I know what you mean.

Great story in this song but it seems really long with alot of filler lines that seem unnecessasay and don't add much to the song.

Tossing in my 2 cents, it's just how it sings to me mind you.
Just some ideas!

Keep or toss any or all. Good luck with your song!

v1
Daddy bought a little dairy farm
With an asphalt roof and a rickity barn
Had a dirt floor cellar, home to every curious mouse..
Daddy never spent his golden years
With his family cause his time drew near
He didn't live to see his dreams for that farm house..

ch
Livin' a country life
Tryin' to beat the rain
Stock a few bales of hay
On a cloudy day..
Save some potholes for the kids
That's what good folk try'n do..
Strugglin' to get by
Livin' this country life..

v2
Mama had to parcel off some land
Raised us kids alone when she lost her man
Then contracted with fish and game on a ten year term..
Berms were built and dirt was moved
Land preservation made us our living too
Childhood would teach me values if I watched and learned..

ch
Livin' a country life
Tryin' to beat the rain
Stock a few bales of hay
On a cloudy day..
Save some potholes for the kids
That's what good folk try'n do..
Strugglin' to get by
Livin' this country life..

br
I grew up and moved 2000 miles away
After fifteen years of livin' in L.A.
I bought mama's place, devised a plan
Put my daddys dream right in my hands
Yea back home I collected rain run off
Measured snow melt from the hill tops
Made a livin' as I perserved that land
As I grow old, those old growths stand

ch
Livin' a country life
Tryin' to beat the rain
Stock a few bales of hay
On a cloudy day..
Save some potholes for the kids
That's what good folk try'n do..
Strugglin' to get by
Livin' this country life..

Terry, Thanks for the feedback, I will fix the spelling mistakes before I put the lyrics on my website.
I started to explain why I made the changes then decided it wasn't important and stopped.

Geneve, Thanks for the great suggestions for the song. I like the bridge one the best.
I plan on using the song for background music on the history page. Hopeful the lyrics will tell the story in 4 or 5 minutes with some pictures. (still working on that) I'm sure I will make some more changes before I spend money to record it. The tough part is trying to tell the true story. That's why I changed the title from (livin in the country) to (lived a little country life). My dad passed away somewhat young, My mom lives in town, and I still live in L A. We all put up a little hay, Here I am trying to explain myself. I guest it is important, I alway learn something when I get feedback, thanks again for taking the time to offer feedback. something I'm not very good at. The house had asphalt siding on it and it was ugly.

Still trying to figure out what to say. Changed title to
Live a little country life

Live a little country life.
(c) Scott Steven Walters

Dad grew up in town bought a small dairy farm.
With an old rickety house and barn.
Spent a few years fixin up the place.
Building charm into our living space.
Gave us four boys ponies to ride.
Swing sets for my sisters with twisty slides.
Spend that time with his kids and wife.
He got his chance to live a little country life.

Live a little country life.
Tryin to beat the rain on a cloudy day.
Putin up a little bit a hay hay hay.
Where switch grass grows ducks in the sky.
Save some wetland for the children too.
Live a little country li li li life.

Mother moved to town after dad passed away.
I know she will see him again someday.
Sold the buildings with forty acres.
To raise her youngest two finger shakers
Signed a fish and game deal ten year terms.
Moved dirt around built a couple berms
With a bigger plan to preserve a little land.
Childhood memories where old trees stand.

Live a little country life.
Tryin to beat the rain on a cloudy day.
Putin up a little bit a hay hay hay.
Where switch grass grows ducks in the sky.
Save some wetland for the children too.
Live a little country li li li life.

Over the years, wetland disappeared.
That surrounds ground I grew up on.
So I bought the rest of mother land.
Came up with a conservation plan.
To collect rain and melting snow.
And create a new native wetland.

Repeat chorus 2X
