Michael was critiquing a lyric I posted on forum 3. It was about my aunt. Back in 1948, she was almost raped at the age of 17, but was saved by an "angel" -- a country man and his family, who happened to have tools scattered all over the floor of their car. She later wrote a thank you note, but it was returned as undeliverable. Well, country guy, tools, angels....Michael apparently couldn't resist, and came up with the delightful hook, "Country Guardian Angel!" He invited me to join in on the fun with the writing, along with Tommy Cutrer on guitar. Michael did the vocal -- and here's the end result! (Would have been done sooner but Tommy had to run the foxhounds, in the morning, you know!) Thanx, Michael, for including me in this! My aunt passed away last year, but she sure would have loved this as much as I do! Somewhere, somehow, I just KNOW she's listening and tapping her toes -- grateful that she can finally "thank" her true Country Guardian Angel!! Lisa Country Guardian Angel People think I'm just a country boy But I'm actually an angel I ride around in my pick up truck Searchin' for folks in danger I keep everything I need at hand Every tool you could imagine I can fix whatever brings you trouble I'm your country guardian angel In overalls and a straw hat Ain't no wings upon my back I look just like you But here's a little down home fact I'll be there in an instant Whenever you're in need I'm your country guardian angel You can count on me Some say there's a halo around my head It's just a headlamp for the night When tires blow and need some fixin' Folks soon will see my light The hardest to mend is the broken heart When your love gets so tangled That's the time i need you to believe I'm your country guardian angel In overalls and a straw hat Ain't no wings upon my back I look just like you But here's a little down home fact I'll be there in an instant Whenever you're in need I'm your country guardian angel You can count on me I'm your country guardian angel You can count on me (c) 2012, LeBlanc/Cutrer/Gundling

Thanks, Calvin, for the cool comment! Michael did a subtle yet important edit on that verse you liked and made it shine -- no pun intended! And Tommy's riff does sound cool! Lisa
Hey Michael -- I've been playing this so much at my house that my nine-year-old son now knows the chorus words! But he was singing, "you CAN'T count on me!" I corrected him, and he said, "oh, I like that MUCH better now! -- lol! It was SO fun working on this-- thanks again! Lisa

That was interesting how you guys developed the lyrics and song from that initial idea.
That is what songwriting is all about.
Thanks for posting it.

Hi Doug,
Yes -- Michael thought that the backstory was more interesting than the lyric, and did a PR spin! Seems Michael is adept at finding needles in haystacks! My aunt would also have liked this way better than her attack story...she preferred fun to tragedy!
Thanks for your nice comment here!

Hi Tammy,
Ditto for me -- thanks for your uplifting message! It must be a cool feeling for people like you guys who can hear the music and make words sing -- what a gift! And I appreciate that Michael, and his pal, Tommy, so generously shared that gift with me!

Hi Dottie -- Yes, angel songs are intriguing, I think because many of us probably have had that strange feeling that we've met one or two in our lives. Thanks for your nice visit! -- Lisa

Way to expand great idea into a wonderful collaborative effort.
Liked this: The hardest to mend is the broken heart When your love gets so tangled That's the time i need you to believe I'm your country guardian angel
Bravo to all involved.

A trio of superb efforts. A bundling of lyrics by Gundling, with the whitening and brightening by LeBlanc, and the musical structures of Cutrer's, or the musical sutures of Coot-rer...it's so hard to rhyme when one does not know the pronunciations of a name..LOL~~~great stuff, I can always expect no less from all of you~~~~MFB III

Thanks so much, MFB, for your very fine decree! (Laughing over "sutures" -- Michael needs to let us know how "Cutrer" is pronounced. In my head, I've been hearing the hard sound of "cut" like cutting with scissors!) -- Lisa

Hi Glyn,
Thanks so much! Yes, you've done some adorable angel songs, from what I recall. Angels songs appeal to me, too, and this country boy angel keeps making me smile. Michael made everything seem so easy -- set up all the dots, allowed me to connect a few, and then did his angel thing -- with Tommy on harp! Lisa
