I got involved with some changes in my life and have not been able to connect with JPF for a while. Missed you all though. This was a song I had been working on. It is a dance song that is a spoof on the nightclub scene and a joke on a friend of mine.

I hope people enjoy listening to it and that it might give you a laugh. As always, feedback is appreciated. Doug

Lyrics =

1st Verse:

When we go out to nightclubs. When the girls come our way.

My buddy gets direct hits. I get the ricochets.

We're like a chick magnet. We put them in a spell.

He does all the attracting. I handle the repel.

Chorus:

I'm a ricochet man. That is what I am.

So go ahead and shoot. We planned it that way.

I'm a ricochet man. Take your best shot.

I'll wait right here, for the ricochet.

2nd Verse:

Girls like his tall, dark, and handsome,

more than my short, buffed, and cute.

So he always gets the top half. I settle for the boots.

He accepts the chubby booty, cause he can isolate.

I prefer plain old beauty, so we split them up that way.

Chorus:

I'm a ricochet man. That is what I am.

So go ahead and shoot. We planned it that way.

I'm a ricochet man. Take your best shot.

I'll wait right here, for the ricochet.

Bridge:

We're not like Laurel and Hardy, more like “Hall and Oates”.

If we were brothers we'd be “Righteous”, when it comes to

getting strokes.

3rd Verse:

He likes the short, petite girls, though he’s over 6 ft. tall.

They watch him over my shoulder, cause I am so small.

I am some kind of doctor. I'm good at the books.

He's a former model. He's good at getting looks.

When we wade into the stream. We make a great team.

With our brains and our brauns, that’s how we bait our hooks.

Chorus repeats and then surprise ending:

I'm a ricochet man. That is what I am.

So go ahead and shoot. We planned it that way.

I'm a ricochet man. Take your best shot.

I'll wait right here for the ricochet.

I'm a richochet man. That is what I am.

So go ahead and shoot. We planned it that way.

I'm a ricochet man. Take your best shot

I'll wait right here for the ricochet.

I'm a ricochet man. That is what I am

Doug--this is funny! You might be surprised with some success in pitching this--new ideas for subject matter are needed with the rap/hip-hop genre, IMHO. This would make a "great video!"

Thanks for that comment Eddie. I had not thought of the video idea but now that you say it, it could be fun to do and might work.

I could picture a singing duo kinda like Hall and Oates doing it or probably more like Bruno Mars and some taller hip hop guy.

Thanks for the idea.

DOUG!!

There you are!! I am so happy to see you, I was hoping all was well your way!!

This is a riot!! Love the first verse and well sung by you!!

I wonder if the line "we planned it that way" couldn't be made more interesting? Just thought that each time it came around.

The line, "they watch him over my shoulder" is a mouthful and seems rushed.

Other than that, I really enjoyed this and I am so very happy to know you are back!!

Very amusing Doug.
Plenty of fun lines here.
The vocals are a little muddy but that can be fixed.

I hope I can spend more time on this site again, but
I am so darn busy with some changes in my family and career that I have not been able to review songs or write my own for over six months or so.

I will check on those lines you talked about.
I appreciate your feedback.

Very clever lyric. It is not really the genre I like to listen to, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The lyric really carried it. I agree the vocal is a bit muddy and could be cleared up a bit. Nice work. Love the ending cya lines.

Doug, this is too much fun. grin I was laughing by the end of V1, and chuckling throughout after that. smile I got a kick out of that spoken ending as well. smile

I agree, this could have a future as a hip-hop song.

Wish I could help in terms of pitching suggestions. Maybe check out the SoundClick forums? I seem to recall there were a few rappers there who were up for collabs (unless you'd prefer to approach a publisher directly).

In any case, best of luck with it. smile

Brilliant and funny.
Sound like one those songs you find attached to one of those videos that start out as a lark by two buds and next thing you know, scores of folks are lip sinking to it and making their own videos to the song.

Nicely done Doug

Great idea for a rap song - made me lough and I think it's worth spending more time on it ... or find someone being able to make a professional rap-recording. :-)

Thanks for the listen and comment Tom.

I am probably one of the worst at having songs which can be "too serious" about life, so it was good to hear that I changed up this time.

Thanks for the review and comment Charlie McLight.

I checked out your website and found it to be pretty cool.
Are you currently living in Austria.

Be interesting to hear what kind of music people like there.

My first thought was "He's been reading my mail." grin
The "some kind of doctor" line bothered me a little bit, because it seems like if the singer was a doctor, he's know what kind of doctor he is.
If you sang the work "ricochet" with the classic rock 'n' roll stutter..."ric-ric-richochet", it would emulate a real ricochet.

Thanks Kurt

The Ric Ric Ric ocheting idea might work for a re-record.
I was thinking the sound effects covered it for the most part.

I appreciate your feedback. "The singer is supposed to be "self-deprecating" when it comes to comparing himself to his tall good looking "former model" friend, he plays down the "doctor" stuff. Hope that answers that for you.

Hey Nelson

Really appreciate you listening and the comments, .

I was thinking that it might be fun to make a video, but
would not really even know how to start on it.

Are you knowledgeable about it, Nelson, or does anyone on the site have know how? Actually, it would be fun to pull this off at a local nightclub that I know about if I could get them to let it happen.

Thanks for the "studious dude" idea Stan. That could work.

The person I was punking has a Dad and brother who were doctors, also, so it added to the punch.

I was thinking about something like your idea, if I changed out the "doctor" lyric; and had been considering "I think I am a scholar, I'm good at the books".

Are you currently living in Austria.

Be interesting to hear what kind of music people like there.

You're welcome - I have to thank you for making me lough ... and your kind words on my website. smile

Yes, I live in Austria and we've got lots of different types of music here (classical, Austrian folk, German rap ...) - however, most of the time the radio stations play pop music with English lyrics ("This girl is on fire!!!!!" etc.). US/British singers/bands/DJs dominate the European market and many European musicians copy this style. Local heroes are the minority ... wink

Thanks back McLight.

I have ancestry stemming back from Austria and the Tyrol area.

I thought people there might like American music. I have also had a lot of Euro based contacts on my website from Germany and also Ukraine -Russia - which I am always hoping is not someone trying to mess up my site.

Now, that's nice - ancestors from Austria! I live in the eastern part (Vienna area), but right now I'm in Tyrol ... enjoying a weekend in the mountains - great weather for skiing. :-)

Ok - I'd better stop now - don't want to mess up your feedback thread. ;-)

It was because you do so well with the songwriting that I figured you might be good at the video stuff too Nelson.
