Hey Brother Mackie,
This reminds me a bit of Townes Van Zant in style. I can imagine him singing it. Good to hear another nice one from my buddy.
Stevie
Man, your work gets better all the time Mackie.Loved the guitar, a nice sweet melody.
The story and your vocal were right on target.
Best of luck with it
Travis
Hey Mackie, this pretty cool!I'm really glad to see how you've come along in such a short time.Keep at!Mike
STEVIE--
THANKS FOR CHECKING THIS ONE--
YOUSE GUYS GET THE CREDIT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT --WITHOUT THE FEEDBACK, I'D STILL BE FLOUNDERING AROUND ON THE EDGE OF DIGITAL RECORDING--I'M STILL LEARNING FROM YA!
LATER,
Mackie
TRAVIS--
THANKS FOR SPINNING THIS ONE, AND YOUR THOUGHTS--IT'S ANOTHER SONG, DONE WITH MY CIGANO GYPSY GUITAR--I TRIED TO USE LESS EFFECTS ON THIS ONE--
I ALWAYS APPRECIATE YOUR BRITISH VIEW!
LATER,
Mackie
MICHAEL--
THANKS FOR YOUR APPROVAL--I HAD A LITTLE TROUBLE SINGING LOUISIANA AND DIANE GETTIN' THE RHYMING SOUND--WELL I'M STILL LEARNING, WITH ONE FROM YOUR NECK OF THE WOODS!
LATER,
Mackie
Michael
I like the feel of this one....I feel the guitar is steady as well...Vocally, yeah you struggle a bit...
Don't have an answer for you on that...at 51 my voice does not respond even close to where I was...
frustrating...remember vocal cords are muscles and need to be exercised...
Overall,you are getting consistently better
Steve--
I appreciate you listening to this one with your encouraging feedback--At seventy-four, my vocals have fallen somewhat, and the range is compressed--I'll have to get others to do the full demo--
Back in the eighties and nineties, I was out doing the songwriters' nights in Nashville--I know how difficult it is to get a song in--now days it's almost impossible!
I listened to several of your songs--YOU HAVE A GREAT SOUND!
GOOD LUCK, MAYBE ONE DAY SOON, YOU'LL GET THAT BIG BREAK!
THANKS FOR GIVING THIS ONE A SPIN!
Mackie
Hi Mackie,
Very soothing and has a real nice feel to it.

Mackie, This starts out with some nice guitar picking. The simple melody fits the lyrics well. And your expressive voice conveys the wistfulness of the lyrics.
This is a song about high school sweethearts who started out with dreams and then weathered the storms of life together, though they never hit the winning ticket. So why not focus on that angle in the chorus? Something like this. Keep or sweep.
But dreams are funny things
You can chase them all the time
Then miss them when they’re standing
Right before your eyes
We crossed our hearts long ago
With a love we’d never trade
For fame we never found
And fortunes never made
Hey Mackie,
You have hit the jackpot again. Your tunes are so heartfelt and intimate you can just imagine sitting there in your living room and you playing and singing away. The sincerity of your tunes always comes through. I really like Dan's suggestions on the lyrics on this one though. I think it really brings the message home. Love the sound of that gypsy guitar btw, I dare say more so than your Tele.
Dave
Hi Mackie,
I like this one a lot!! Great lyrics!!
-Jackie
CALVIN--
I APPRECIATE YOU CHECKING THI ONE OUT--
TAKE CARE--
Mackie
Hi Mackie,
I like this. I just had a thought while looking at the lyric. I'm thinking since you say "we" that you have the girl? If that's the case then maybe you did get your
big dream but it wasn't what you thought it would be. Like I said, just a thought.

Dottie
DAN--
I STARTED WRITING THIS ONE 10 YEARS AGO--LISTENING TO A TALK SHOW ABOUT DREAMS--I USED THE LINE "DREAMS ARE FLEETING THINGS, SCATTERED THROUGH TIME" AND BUILT THE SONG AROUND THAT IDEA OF DREAMS, WHICH IS KINDA HOW I FEEL ABOUT THEM--THE VERSES HAVE CHANGED A LOT, BUT NOT THE CH--I'LL KEEP YOUR THOUGHTS IN MIND, IF I MAKE ANY MAJOR CHANGES--MADE A FEW MINOR CHANGES.
ALWAYS APPRECIATE YOUR IDEAS--
I'M STILL TRYING!
Mackie
DAVE--
I LOVE YOUR INSIGHT--DAN AND YOU MAKE A GOOD SUGGESTION--I'D STILL LIKE TO PRESERVE THE FIRST TWO LINES OF THE CH--IT WILL TAKE SOME THOUGHT TO DO A MAJOR RE-WRITE.
I DO LIKE THE GYPSY GUITAR, BUT IT'S HARDER TO GET CHORDS ON, AND DOESN'T RESPOND TO EFFECTS AS WELL--I'M STILL LEARNING ON BOTH--I LEARNED ON A STELLA ACOUSTIC MANY YEARS AGO!
I APPRECIATE THE KUDOS--
JACKIE--
THANKS GIRL--
YOU'RE WRITING SOME TIGHT SONGS LATELY--AND COMING ON STRONG--GOOD LUCK!
LATER,
Mackie
DOTTIE--
GIRL, ALWAYS APPRECIATE A CRITIQUE FROM YOUR CASTLE--I LEARN FROM YOUR THOUGHTS--
YOU KNOW, THE FIRST HURDLE OF STAYING TOGETHER, PLANNING THEIR FUTURE , IS GETTIN PAST THE SETTLING IN TIME OF MARRIAGE (SO MANY DON'T GET THAT FAR: OVER 50%)--THEN COMES THE DREAMING PART, WHAT THEY ASPIRE OR WISH FOR IN THEIR LIVES (AND THAT'S AS VARIED, AS THE PEOPLE DREAMING).
WELL, I TAKE NOTE OF YOUR THOUGHTS, TO USE LATER WHEN I RE-WRITE--
Mackie
Though Reams of dreams all slip away,
it's the chase that thrills us day to day,
those mountaintops we can't quite reach,
that paradise with a lovely beach,
success and fame... elusive too,
without them what would we all do?
lol~~nicely written and performed~~Matt
MFB--
YOUR LINES REMIND ME OF AN OLD SONG--DON'T REMEMBER WHO DID IT: "MY ELUSIVE DREAMS"--YOU ARE RIGHT, DREAMS ARE ELUSIVE!
THANKS FOR GIVIN' THIS ONE YOUR THOUGHTS--IF WE DIDN'T HAVE DREAMS--WHAT ELSE WOULD THERE BE?
LATER,
Mackie
Hey Mackie.
Definitely a tender song, very nice indeed. I like the guitar picking, but wouldn't mind hearing some soft guitar chords on a separate track for adding a little fullness to this song in "places." I also had an idea for a chordavox playing some chords and "answers" to your vocals. Just thoughts, nice song Mackey, I really enjoyed your passion.
steady-eddie.
Eddie--
Thanks for checking this one out--I may try to add some chords--I appreciate the feedback--
Later,
Mackie
Hi Mackie,
I fell behind, so I hunted this one down! It's so sad and tender and sweet -- classic Mackie! The line where you sing, "since high school I've loved Dian'" made me teary! Something about the way it's written and sung!
Lisa
Another fine job Mackie.
Heart wrenching lyric, sweet picking and expressive vocals.
That's the ticket, my friend.
LISA-
Thanks for getting teary-eyed, I guess we all went through the same things starting out --TIMES WERE SIMPLER, back then--I'm the CLASSIC!
I always appreciate your thoughts.
Later,
Mackie
MISTER NELSON--
Thanks for giving this one a positive spin--I'm still trying, learning from YOU-ALL!
Later,
Mackie
Very touching and heart-wrenching and authentic. As always, your vocal lends a great deal of sincerity to the story and I can't imagine any else singing it as well. I loved the writing and the story as well. Nicely done.
Bobby Wayne--
Thanks for your positive thoughts on this one!
Later,
Mackie
Hey there Mackie.......what a lamenting tune!!
It sure strikes a chord in me.
Love your signature sound!!
Don't change!! -Tom
TOM--

SCOTTY--
BO WAS A 10! YES!
THAT WAS AN OLD MOVIE, BUT A MILESTONE!
THANKS FOR YOUR FEEDBACK--HOW DID A TAR HEEL WIND UP IN LOUISIANA?
I GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL IN THOMASVILLE, NC--YEARS AGO, I SPENT A LOT OF TIME IN AND AROUND NEW ORLEANS--
JUST BOUGHT A 1921 HORNER BUTTON ACCORDION--I MAY NEVER LEARN TO PLAY IT THOUGH--
I APPRECIATE YOU STYOPPING BY--
Mackie
Mackie, I graduated from West Carteret HS in Morehead City, NC.. enlisted in the Air Force and ended up retiring here in Louisiana. I sure do miss the ocean sometimes!! :)))) Scotty
