Hi everyone,
Here one of Lisa's messages about Bobbie from Jan.15:
"Called right away this morning before shift change to check on Aunt Bobbie. She was alert and responsive. She got 3 rounds of CRT (continuous dialisis for her kidneys) Nurse said all her numbers are slowly moving in the right direction and shes down to 20% on the venting machine which means shes depending less on it. Today is a rest day for her. No procedure.. no big things to do..that was all yesturday.. and now we watch her. Thank you each and everyone of you for your prayers. My mom and I and my siblings and family and friends are all impacted by them. Thank you for your posts. Keep it all coming. We arent done fighting yet."

I just found this update on Lisa's ( Bobbie's niece) Facebook page:
"Aunt Bobbie is breathing on her own. Tube is still in pkace but if she keeps this up..they can remove it. They also took her off dialisis. The hopes that her kidneys will kick back in so pray for her kidneys to wake up. Also her white blood cell count has gone down which means infection is going down.. praises and thanks to God for His mercies and His care. Im home for the weekend refueling.. resting.. enjoying my family before i head back. We still have fighting ahead of us. Pray for my mom. This is her only sister. Pray for physical and emotional strength for her."
Bobbie is one tough lady! We love you, Bobbie!!!

For those inquiring, I DID just now get hold of Kaley who, as I figured , had plenty of problems of her own what with caring for two elderly Moms and now Kaley has the flu herself. Anyway, she hasn't been feeling like being on the computer or anything else but she thinks she's a little better so I told her about the thread on JPF. She's been pretty much down and didn't sound too good herself.

Thanks, Wy:
For those of you who don't know Kaley Willow... she is another "old-timer" here at JPF. She specializes in Children's Music and Stories. Super kind and special... just like Bobbie and all the other Pineyfest folks who hang their hats here.
Hope you get better soon, Kaley. (You too, Bobbie!)
All my best,
Dave

Here is an update from Bobbie's niece, Lisa:
"Oh the beauty of and unhindered uncovered smile.. enjoying the beautiful precious smile of my Aunt Bobbie Gallup as they finally completely weaned her and removed the vent completely. Each precious smile..each time she reaches up to touch her own face or opens her eyes to look at me.. i treasure it in my heart.. keep up the good fight Aunt Bobbie. I love you."
Keep up the healing, Bobbie!! We are all holding you in our hearts.
Emily

Here is a message posted by Bobbie's niece today:
"Dear friends and family of Aunt Bobbie Gallup.. the vent has been removed.. the tubes and machines and medications are being removed.. with grace and dignity we are allowing this amazing sweet woman to go on her own terms.. surrounded by family.. she is resting comfortably.. we are sitting by her side.. she may be moved to a private room..she has fought a good fight.. she has given of her time to love and mentor so many people..she has loved all the messages I read her..her body is just too sick.. may Gods Grace and comfort surround us all. May His arms uphold us. May Aunt Bobbie feel His presence close may she feel no pain. Feel free to leave a comment or memory. We can encourage each other. You can private message me as well."
I'm speechless. My heart hurts.

Thank you for the update Emily. It sounds like we should be praying for her and preparing for the worst.
I'm glad she knows her friends here are her family too, and that she made such an impact here...nice to know she she knows her life has value in all she gave us.

I suppose one can look at the situation as a "win" for Bobbie either way. Being the selfish mortal that I am... I pray that "HE" allows her to stay with us a few years longer in good health and with her especially great disposition. Knowing that Dawg is waiting certainly adds a different twist on things... but he is a patient man... and we are needy beings.
Bobbie, if you go... please take our gratitude and love with you. So many lives have been graced by your many kindnesses. For you family members, I deeply understand your heartache. After losing so many loved ones and friends... it never gets easier. Be comforted knowing she represented you so very well.
Thank you Bobbie. Your middle name should be "Beloved."

I am heartbroken to say that Bobbie passed away this afternoon. Here'e the post I saw on Bobbie's niece's Facebook page:
"Tonight my sweet precious Aunt Bobbie Gallup went peacefully to be with Jesus. She fought the good fight.. now shes home.. no more suffering.. no more pain."
My heart is full with lovely memories of Bobbie. I'm glad she is out of pain, but I will miss her so much. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers. And, give everyone you love an extra hug tonight.
Emily

I had become so optimistic with some of the reports from last week but I see it was all to let her go on her own in her own way and time. I am glad she was surrounded by her family and the kind words so many expressed to her. Her and Corky are hopefully working on some new material and keep in mind we have a treasure trove of posts from so many of our lost friends which will always be here as long as I am capable of making it so.
So many of you long term folks posting here are also deeply important and meaningful to our existence and I hope you all know how much of a positive impact you've had on millions and millions of people who come here and read your posts, your lyrics and commentaries and check out your songs. This is a living archive of many wonderful characters who have graced this site for the past 16 years as well as having been members in some cases for more than two decades as JPF turns 30 years old later this year.
Be sure to enjoy each others company while we all still can as we never know when our own times will come and best not to leave anything unsaid or connections untouched.
Much love and respect to all!

As an "Oldtimer" here, I met Bobbie at JPF in around 1998 and she is the reason I posted for so many years. She encouraged me and we became such close friends through emails back then. But the hightlight was to meet her and Dawg at the first Pineyfest. We had such a lot of personal things in common and I pray for her family at this very sad time. She will be among friends up there, especially Dawg, Stan, Graham Henderson and Idamarie. My heart is broken. Judy Hollier

Brian Glad to see you back on line Brian. And believe me when I say that we all treasure the JPF Family that you have established and worked so hard at. Maybe this life, and our existence is dust to dust, so I'm going to leave Faith out of what I'm about to say... "Somewhere", and I personally believe it's a real somewhere, but even if the somewhere only exists in our hearts, as long as it exists in our hearts, then it's real enough for me... Somewhere, there's a song-circle with Graham Henderson, Tampa Stan, Dawg and Beloved Bobbie Gallup... I would be honored if I could just be the one to toss another log on the campfire to keep those four comfortable enough to hang out a little longer while I linger outside the campfire light and get to listen to what they come up with. Midnite...Adding and edit, to quote the Couchgrouch in the other Bobbie thread... Per the Couchgrouch: "Bobbie and I used to scrap all the time over lyrical issues. Learn to appreciate the people you argue with. You're going to miss them when they're gone. A lesson JPF keeps teaching me with the losses of Corky, Graham, Stan and now Bobbie. Sayanara, folks...." We all try to write, and some are more proficient than others, but there are some who touch our hearts because of who they are, and what they give... If JPF had a Mount Rushmore.....

Oh no, oh nooo ... I'm heartsick. What a terrible and tragic loss. It's hard to imagine the world without Bobbie's light shining in it. Holding on to lots of wonderful memories...and hoping the same will help her family (and the one here at JPF) through this horrible time. RIP Bobbelina. You will be sorely missed. Hugs, Beth

Here's the obituary that was just posted by Film Nashville, where Bobbie worked: FilmNashville and FilmNashville Foundation are very sad to convey that our dear friend and colleague, Bobbie Gallup, first president of FilmNashville Foundation, passed away this week. Due to health issues, she left the Nashville area to move up to Michigan to be closer to friends and family over the last three years, in hopes of stabilizing and improving her health. She was surrounded by those closest to her at her passing. Bobbie Gallup grew up in Michigan, gathering a BS in biology, art, and education from Western Michigan University, and an MS from Michigan State in environmental interpretation. Throughout her career, she studied how to connect with people of all ages in her positions as a park ranger, naturalist, zoo education coordinator, and statewide head of interpretive services for the state park system in Minnesota. She became a consultant in the area of interpretive planning, community development and tourism in the state of Colorado. Bobbie's real life profession was in the field of what is known as interpretation -- the sort of interpretation that involved translating the voices of nature and the stories of history into interesting and provocative ways that enabled folks to enjoy and appreciate the world we share. Taking this same approach to bringing experiences alive through songs was simply another way of approaching "interpretation." As the Diamond Rio song says..."It's all interpretation." Her creative bent surfaced early in life, although her first "failure" in the world of music was a memorable one. At age 8 Bobbie's piano teacher was upset that, after Bobbie seemed to master book after book of piano lessons, her teacher had been fooled into believing that Bobbie was sight reading, only to have her play a particularly difficult lesson...in the wrong key. So ended her dreams of becoming a piano virtuoso. But her love of music would lead to other great things. Bobbie began writing early... composing poetry from the time she was 15, and getting her first official publication at 17 for writing her high school class poem at Western High School, Parma, MI. She also excelled at painting, concentrating on wildlife subjects for many years. Later, after moving to Colorado, she began recording scenes of the West, gathering numerous natural and cultural resource management publications and awards along the way. Bobbie was responsible for planning and coordinating The South Platte River Trail Scenic & Historic Byway, awarded Best New Interpretive Project in the nation in 1998, by the National Association for Interpretation. The project was also nominated for the John Sem Tourism Award in 1999. As life presented her with its usual pattern of challenges, she found more to write about, eventually garnering more publications, magazine articles, awards and honors. Several of her poems may be read online on the International Library of Poetry website. Music remained a lifelong passion, and in 1998, her work was recognized when she was awarded First Place in a country music songwriting contest sponsored by Georgia Pacific Paper Company. Her songwriting drew her to the Nashville area. She started an annual songwriting conference called Pineyfest. Her enormous intelligence and governmental savvy brought her to a position with the City of Columbia, south of Nashville, where she wrote over $10 million in grants. Her greater involvement in Nashville music eventually got her involved with and on the board of the Nashville Composers Association, founded by Rolin Mains and currently helmed by Geoff Koch. It was while running a Nashville Composers Association booth at the Nashville Film Festival that she sat side-by-side with the table for FilmNashville. She soon joined the board, and then went on to become Founding President of FilmNashville Foundation 501(c)(3). She taught grant-writing workshops and consulted with numerous filmmakers, songwriters, composers and other non-profit organizations along the way. Meanwhile, Bobbie had a growing portfolio of over 400 song lyrics, primarily in the country genre, but also a few gospel, pop and children's songs. "Last Line Of Defense" and "I Can't Pretend" were engineered and produced at Brush Hill Studios, Nashville, by Arvel E. Bird, and plugged by CROJO Music. Bobbie's "My Heart Stops Here" has been published by Northern Comfort Music (Guelph, Ontario). Bobbie Gallup was a very intelligent human, had a very big heart, and is a beautiful soul. You can read some of her background here: http://www.cowboypoetry.com/bg.htm& http://www.jpfolks.com/forum/ubbthreads.php… Here's one of her poems.. The Snow Seems Awful Early The snow seems awful early Or could it just be me These old bones always complainin' Can predict a storm by my knees Mebbe it's them long years in the saddle Or the hosses I tried to break Or the ones who might near broke me That's makin' this ol' cowboy ache There's still a lotta satisfaction Comes from tightenin' that wire But it seems there's nothin' better These days than sittin' by that fire Me an' my old dog Toby Prob'ly seen our better days 'Cause I kinda notice him lately Likin' to sleep in the sun's rays Gotta say the Lord's been good to me Seen a lot of His handiwork out there His painted sunrises and sunsets And I breathed His mountain air I've seen things in my lifetime That I know most folks never will And I can't complain 'bout nothin' Though life's picked up speed goin' downhill Now when it comes my time To pass from this earthly race I'll just shake His hand and thank Him And ask if there's any cows to chase © 2000 by Bobbie Gallup If you would like to convey thoughts to her family & friends: https://m.facebook.com/bobbie.gallup"

Here's something I wrote about Bobbie and Corky:
Bobbie Gallup was a seminal member of our online message board community within the Just Plain Folks Music Organization. For many years her and her eventual husband (whom she met on our boards as well) Corky Bernard nurtured the talent, hopes and dreams of countless fledgling Lyricists and Songwriters. They went far beyond simple professionalism in their own work, but also reached out in the most welcoming and supportive way to any and all who crossed their paths and wandered into our world from the wilderness of the Internet. Corky and Bobbie inspired not only talent, but a deep bonding within our community among their peers who are all devastated by first the loss of Corky and now the tragic loss of Bobbie as well. They were without peer in helping us bring together people out of the anonymous shadows and into real life, face to face gatherings, initially as part of official JPF Roadtrip visits to Nashville and later, as we continued to expand beyond our frequent visits to Nashville each year, to their own creation "Pineyfest" where they hosted a wide array of songwriters and industry professionals both at their home and in meetings and gatherings and raucous performance nights where music and a true brother/sisterhood was built and tended to. We still hear tales from those who attended these events and how important those passing moments were in many of their lives. Beyond just being helpful and welcoming, both possessed immense talent in bringing stories and characters as seemingly real as they were to life on a daily basis on our boards. Thankfully, we have those lyrics and online conversations preserved on our message board where both are still among the top Posters to this day. Now that they are together again the depth of our loss feels as though it matches the depth of what they gave us, until we remind ourselves how much we carry them both with us throughout our own days and interactions and work. Much love to their families and to our own who are all the better for having known them both. -Brian Austin Whitney, Founder, Just Plain Folks, January 22nd, 2014

I remember when Justice and I got to the studio for the recording session that Mike Dunbar produced - J was 10 - It was so exciting for us both - and there was Bobbie, sitting there - like a wonderful, kind queen - elegant and powerful - Could never forget her

Yes....a wonderful person.... I did speak with her a couple days before, during and after Pineyfest. I had planned to make it while expediting in TN. The fuel pump on my van went bad; and I never made it to the festival. This was several years ago.
Peace
