You and I must be about the same age. I remember when that song was a hit, which was right about the time "Hello Mother, Hello Father", & "Sukiyaki" were off beat hits well. But, when I think of songs like you describe, I put it this way, "what songs do I wish I would have written my self?" And I can think of two: "The Look Of Love", and "Hey Jude".

"Unbreak My Heart"...causes me to sit quietly and admire something done so incredibly well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2Rch6WvPJE

I find it fascinating. The songs some hold so dear don't make a dent in others hide. I have a talented musician friend who likes all the music I like but plays some strange background stuff at dinner parties. I once asked him why and he replied, "don't you like it?" If only I had the secret ......

About a year or so ago, I was driving 400 miles. Had to find a different radio station about every 50 miles. This song popped up 37 times. Other songs also popped up 37, or maybe 47 times....But this is the ONLY one that I had to track down once I got back to a laptop: Meghan Trainor..."It's All About That Bass"....A song with a wonderful message, delivered, disguised as a "pop" song! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PCkvCPvDXkMidnite

Ray,
My Dad had a 78 rpm record of "The Green Door" he would play when I was a little kid, maybe 4 or 5 yrs old. That would be around 1961-1962 probably.

I heard this song years ago... and never could find it in the record stores... when I finally asked about ordering it, it was no longer available... but last year I finally looked for it on U tube.... and voila! it still hits me square in the eyes, ears and heart and frankly it's the song I compare all of mine to and try so hard to measure up to A friend of Mine is Going Blind --- John Dawson Read https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQlnmny0YnE
