Well, In December, 1995 I was using an old Reel to Reel Tape Recorder but after recording a song it died! Still played but wouldn't record anymore. So I bought a Tascam Porta 03 Mk ll Cassette Recorder of which I use to this day with my $6.60 Dynamic Concertone Microphones I bought in the far east in the 1960's. I have a Stand Alone CD Recorder I can transfer my recordings to for submissions to Publishers even tho no one is looking for anything. I record with a Acoustic Guitar when putting a song down on Tape. A lot of people use a DAW Computer work Station with a software system. When i needed a better demo I used a demo service.

In 2007 I bought an H4 hand held recorder. It worked great for almost 10 years. The batteries leaked and ruined it last month. So, now I'm the proud owner of an H6 Zoom recorder. What a nice little machine. It has a bunch of stuff built in, like compressor /limiter. It'll also make mp3's and 96/24 bit wav. files. Only had it a week, so I haven't' used the Cubebase le that comes with it. Great practice tool.

The H6 does not upload, but the mp3 can be uploaded through your computer to whatever site you choose.

Depends on the computer I'm using - I have a music and a video one.
For Music I generally use outboard gear into a Mackie firewire or and Echo 12 firewire into Sonar Platinum (although I am starting to use Studio One since Cakewalk is winding down).
For Video I use the outboard gear into the Mackie and then use spdif outs into Sonar X3 Producer.
Each computer uses it's own keyboard controller.
The input into the video computer is mainly for mixing the gazillion clips needed to make a video sound real. And I will at the end run it all through Mixbus 4 after running the video through Resolve.

Well, Someone was looking for a basic recorder for something, I can't remember exactly so I did a bit of research. I found the TASCAM DP-006 songwriters recorder. It is all self contained but of course no software just the recording feature. It has a USB output port so you can record something, transfer it to your Computer and make a CD if your Computer has the capability to burn discs. It is usually between $105.00 and $125.00 at different places.

Just a quick note - I got a notice while going to the Cakewalk site and it appears that BandCamp may have bought Cakewalk from Gibson -- details are sparce.

Logic Pro X, Apollo Interfaces, A plethora of plugins. Just thinking about your 'Plethora of plugins' part and it's funny since I started all the video things I have tried to eliminate as many audio plugins as possible - I think it's because like a 10 second title I just did had over 40 plugin effects in the composite. And that was before it went into finish editing (a slew more) Just funny how the video has put me into plugin overload - lol

Of late, it's been MAGIX Music Studio (2015), though on occasion, an older version of CAKEWALK (SONAR X1-LE) via laptop on Windows 7. I did some additional production/recording with it for "Where Do I Stand?".

By the way fellow scribes, Sonar Platinum is now Cakewalk by Bandlab and furthermore it's being offered free of charge. You may or not be aware that Cakewalk was kicked to the curb by Gibson and left for dead until a month or so ago when Bandlab bought the code base and brought along a few fighter pilot guys from Cakewalk to resurrect the program. https://cakewalk.bandlab.com

Saw that today Ronnie - I have Platnium and it's good although I actually prefer to use X3 producer (I have that on my video computer now). Although I still use Mixbus for mastering -- It's just warmer I think because of how it was developed compared to all other DAW's

Logic Pro with 2 input Scarlet. I do have presounus Studio 2. It is a good program but for some reason I work better with Logic. In my option If you are just recording tracks and not doing tons of midi type stuff. Presonus is a good bang for the buck. Logic has some great virtual sounds and the drummer package is great.
