I was supa busy at work today & wanted to come back to this. Summarizing medical reports and bending people to my will leaves only a tiny fingernail clipping of my mind for contemplating words and art. It occurred to me that the song is more about Andy than the woman. The line "you're better than your past" made me think he left us a bread crumb. His feelings, who he was has been changed. I think the word shows how he saw her before, an object, a conquest. Admired maybe but also distant. As she becomes human to him, he becomes more human.
