Kinda lame just to point your finger elsewhere, and say they do it too. Especially since Beyonce sits at the top of the black music scene and projects a strong, in control image. Also there has been blowback against the sexism of early rap and hip hop. These are relatively new genres compared to country music and it's a much less controlled path to the airwaves there. Country music is the last I believe of the corporate controlled music genres in the way artists are developed and presented. Pop just wants to control distribution and is less concerned about content. That said I think there are plenty of socially conscious artists like Garth Brooks and Tim McGraw among many others. But strong women who want artistic control are increasingly going to go the indie route which will lessen the reach of the Nashville system as generations pass.
