The railroad and school lines establish a more grounded, human upbringing before contrasting it with a world where phones, algorithms, and digital systems increasingly influence what people think, feel, and pay attention to. That contrast is the entire point of the lyric.

And I’m using “indoctrination” in a broader sense than just political grooming. Recommendation algorithms, social media echo chambers, AI-curated content, digital persuasion, and identity shaping all play into the idea.

You don’t think the metaphor works, which is perfectly fair. But saying the lines are unrelated isn’t the same thing. What does “Get high from neon sensations” mean?
