Well, one thing is that you're attempting to re-create a sound with things that have nothing in common with that sound. Why? The 50's players didn't have compression pedals. Want that true sound? Get the Fender Stratocaster guitar. Get a vintage type Fender vibrochamp or delux with the signature Fender Reverb. The vibrochamp has tremelo effect that was sometimes used.
It was guitar to amp and play loud, that was the situation. Why muck it up with modern stuff? You can find these amps at garage sales or even some guitar shops that carry old used gear. Often if you find a gem it will cost you less than the Line 6 and it get you that true sound.
Don't get me wrong, I dig Line 6 gear. I've even got an endorsement with them. But often the best thing is the real thing. Otherwise, go with the Line 6 and forget the pedals.
