One thing that any number of people may have, (me included), is the sense that they know what is good or bad, from the perspective of seeing everything from "their" center of the Universe. With seeing and hearing everything with our own eyes and ears, it becomes a "constant perspective", and can have us totally convinced that our opinion should be fact for everyone.
"Belief" is a very powerful mindset. The issue is, there are many centers of the Universe. One person's crap is another's gold. That's a human constant. Respect, given or not, may say how we see others, compared to ourselves.
