Joel has had an amazing career, something I did not foresee back in the 70s.

Yeah he relies on his extensive catalog, and can still get a gig like that based on it. What was impressive to me was the people in Italy singing all his songs in english. Imagine somebody coming to the US from Italy, none of us would be singing the words in italian.
And many young people too. We dont have artists like this anymore, I know some of his stuff sounds so passe, his 70's stuff particulary, but when you watch an entire show, you sort of get blown away by how much music the man has cranked out.
Kind of shame we get this for free every week, but would have to pay to see Justin Bieber
Next week live at Shea!

I wish he did a new album with ALL new songs. Love to know what's been on his mind the past 20 years about everything.

I have heard from several sources that he feels he cant write anymore. And I know he said he doesnt listen to the radio anymore, prolly cause it's terrible.
Yeah a new album be nice but who knows what it would sound like? Just about every major music star hits a wall at some point. Dylan, Simon, Elton John, Stones, Springsteen, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Sting, they start making albums that THEY think are the best they ever did, but the hardcore fans dont.
It's a hard business, the better song you write, the better is expected the next time, and almost never is it as good.
Far as Billy is concerned, Piano Man, Good Die Young, Scenes from Italian restaurant, just the way you are, The entertainer, Captain Jack, Keepin the Faith, Allentown, Matter of Trust, Movin Out, Still Rock n Roll to me, Honesty, I go the extremes, Pressure, Good Night Saigan, all about soul, and so it goes....
He might be the best pop songwriter of all time
