Some will probably say the vocal is up a bit...but I'm a fan of a more up front intimate vocal on this type of song and it works very well for me. I think it sits in the mix where it oughta be...to my ears and on my monitors.

This is a refreshing look at the country boy/city girl theme. You dusted off the theme and made it shine. The lyric, vocal and arrangement all kept my attention all the way through and I'm about to play it for Janice on the bigger living room system. Kudos!

you have a real good one here Vic!I enjoyed the performance.This may be the first one i noticed that you posted from soundcloud,i read your bio and it is very impressing.I'd love to sit and hear your stories,especially the Roger Daltrey ones,he's one of my fave rock vocalist.It's nice to know i'm somewhere in that bunch,lol! I prefer Soundcloud. They let you upload wav files which are much better quality sound. I usually give links to Soundcloud and Soundclick though but not this time yet.

Yes, about Roger. He tried to persuade me not to leave the band.
Good thing for him I did leave or I may have talked him into singing country, lol.

Alas, Mike no pics. All disappeared. Like my three sets of Beatles autographs. I think my brother may have swapped them for cigarettes. :-)
I did have a reel of tape which my dad had recorded of the band playing Duane Eddy's "Detour" and "Heartbreak Hotel" but not sure where that is or if it's still playable.

Really nice song! I would expect to see this on someones platinum country album. Everything is put together nicely. The idea is very good...nice vocal! The only thing I can see is the chorus should be built up and tower above the body of the song. Does that make any kinda sense? Very good job here!

Really nice song here! This has a real nice musical flow that I actually think would make a great "fast slow dance." Women will like this one, it's romantic. I wouldn't mind hearing those few piano chords up a bit.

I like the contrasting harsher toned guitar solo myself, but you may consider giving the main solo to the fiddle, and let the guitar handle the "answers" and a few accent chords. My thinking on this is it could enhance the a 'smoother flowing instrumental and also bring it a little more "Country" appeal yet still keeping it Modern Country.

Like I said, I would like it either way--but if I was dancing to this tune, I'd like the fiddle for a more "romantic feel." Just an idea should you want to experiment or compare.

In any event, very nice song/production/performance--I'm impressed!

Like I said Vic, I think either way is good. Just think about the mood flow and what you are emotionally conveying.

I just listened again to try and get a secondary feel of the guitar and fiddle sharing these lead riffs etc. I had a thought, I like the build of having more smoother fiddle early with answers then gradually having the guitar become dominant. Then with the main solo, maybe split the responsibility--bringing the two together for the solo--one leads in, the other leads out. Experiment with order. Or, just leave it as you have it, it works fine as is, but I think you can "maybe" improve the mood flow/pace and build--Proof is in the pudding as you well know.

I like this more the 2nd time around, you do have a believable vocal for sure-I like a singer with passion!

Hi Vic,

I like this one. A simple story told well. Good melody and chord progression.

As far as production is concerned, I think the vocal is too loud over the intro but is fine once the bass and drums come in. If you have volume automation, you could start lower and bring it up after the intro.

I am not a fan of the distorted guitar tone....too brittle for my ears, although it cuts through the mix once everything else is playing.
