Vocal by Crystal Leigh Harrell Dickel, Strait & Jones (Kurt Fortmeyer/Jeff Batson) Dad Zone Music ASCAP/Hi-Value Music ASCAP She's drawn here most every night Like a moth to a neon light Memories burnin' way too bright She’s missing her old man She never orders wine or beer But if you ask her why she comes in here She’ll tell you it's the atmosphere And three friends who understand A bottle and a jukebox make her feel at home Tennessee sippin' whiskey and classic country songs Jack is good Merle is great but that ain't what she wants She loves the Georges Dickel Strait and Jones Her daddy played the radio All night trucking coast to coast When he'd get home he’d drink a toast And she'd crawl up in his lap She remembers how the whiskey smelled And all the stories he would tell They sang his favorite songs and she almost felt Like she was with him in that cab A bottle and a jukebox make her feel at home Tennessee sippin' whiskey and classic country songs Jack is good Merle is great but that ain't what she wants She loves the Georges Dickel Strait and Jones She'll have a round of what he used to drink before that heart attack And play the guys who sing the songs that bring her daddy back Jack is good Merle is great but that ain't what she wants She loves the Georges Dickel Strait and Jones She loves the Georges Dickel Strait and Jones

Kurt ... I've got just a few seconds here and thought I'd give them to you ...
if this ain't Country Classic, then there just isn't any! great write and arrangement. And your singer did you right. This would/could have been a big hit with the Country crowd back in the 1965 - 1980 era. It's still a great song today, but the market for this style isn't what it used to be. Regardless, it's really good and all concerned did a super job. Congrats on a real nice piece of music! Great stuff!

Totally classic country Kurt!
I'm with Al & Di all the way on this.
That's one of those hooks that folks say, "why couldn't I have come up with that! I might relate more than some cause my husband drives truck, but this is a highly relatable song. I think it's great!

Alan & Di Thanks for listening, y'all. I understand that this not major label "Country" as it is presented to the masses by the corporate conglomerates. However, there is a market that they are ignoring that loves stuff like this. My male vocal version of this song (with me singing) gets airplay on independent AM and FM stations and public radio across the United States...as well as in Canada, Germany, Denmark, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Great Britain, Belgium, Spain, Italy, and Australia. Social media sites are full of pages and groups that decry the direction that Music Row has gone. All of my music is not like this, but I do prefer Classic and Traditional over Bro. This song is as much a tribute to real country music as it is real country music. I think Crystal did a great job. She's a 22 year old college educated California girl who loves traditional country music. I'm glad our paths have crossed.

Thanks for the kind words, Geneva. I bought that hook at HOOKS R US. (Just kidding.) I actually pitched that hook to a couple of different co-writers who didn't bite. Jeff (my co-writer) was nominated for a Grammy for co-writing the title track to Tracy Lawrence's Gospel album " The Rock". He jumped on it, and asked the most important question..."Who is this girl, and what is her story?". We were off to the races after that.

I didn't hear this as a song for a female singer until I did! I also had to check out George Dickel. I thought he was an old time trad. country singer. Glad I got that straight. Very nicely done and performed by all. Ricki

It has that classic, wholesome sound alright and Crystal sounds like a girl you could take home to your Mother. Excellent, both.

It may be better than I imagined.

Vic Pretty is as pretty does, Vic...and this girl is beautiful. She reminds me a lot of my oldest daughter...in love with life and learning. I haven't met her mama, but I can tell she raised her right. This is the same backing track that we used on my CD. Pat (my producer) cleaned it up a little.
