I'm currently using DP 7.24 on OSX 10.6.8 in the studio and have been hesitant to upgrade to DP8 until I finish our current CD - fearful that some of my plugins will need upgrading and I don't have time to mess with it. I'll upgrade to DP 8 there, once I finish.
However, my laptop (also 10.6.8 and DP 7.24)) that I am using for performances is beginning to show its age and I'm currently holding out to get the new 2015 MacBookPro when it is offered (but may have to get the current MacBookPro with Yosemite if my current laptop goes before then.
Questions:
1. Will DP 7.24 work with Yosemite? 2. Will DP 8 work with Yosemite or OSX 10.6.8? 3. Will Motu have to come out with another upgrade in order to work with the new OSX coming after Yosemite?
I need to plan ahead but not sure what will work with what - and in what time frame.
Thanks

Sorry no one answered you, I don't have a Digital Recording set up but when installing something new if it is not compatible with your system it will usually tell you or not open. If what you are using now sounds good to you I would not change it. If something won't install it is probably not compatible. Upgrades sound good but may be no better than what you already have. Good luck!

Can't help you with DP George, but I can relate to upgrading. I've been considering upgrading my Logic Pro, but I have about 1,500 projects using an older version of Logic. Also there are a few quirks in my present Logic that I've learned to work around. I imagine my "work arounds" won't work in the upgraded version. I could keep both versions of Logic Pro, but it's a massive program (70+ GB). I did know a musician that uses DP, but I can't remember his name. If I remember, I'll send you his Facebook page. Best, John

Thanks to you both!
I'm fairly certain that DP8 will pick up my earlier DP6 and current DP7 files. My upgrade concerns are always the currency of the plugins needed as the operating systems and internal computer architectures evolve. Some plugin developers seem to be a little behind a new OSX.
On the studio computer, I'm definitely waiting until the CD is completed but, since a new laptop (used for performances) will have the latest OSX on it, I'm just a little concerned about a temporary mismatch between the two.
The key now is to leave the studio configuration alone for a while. Que Sera Sera... Thanks for your thoughts and inputs!

"We are all millionaires, billionaires even, because right now we have today. And today is worth more than all the wealth we can imagine. So spend today wisely. Spend tomorrow wisely. Enjoy the wealth of today, and realize it is worth far more than all the money and possessions of tomorrow and beyond." -Brian Austin Whitney
