Barry and everyone,
The reason I am talking about leaving this thread is that it simply is uninteresting to me.Fighting about something that happened over a decade ago, doesn't make any sense and the subject drifts all over the place, as all of them do. If some people get satisfaction out of that, fine, continue on along. Don't need me for any of that, and I just don't have anything to add.
All of you act as if there are NO protest/issue songs out there and that is pure nonsense. Sometimes it seems like that is ALL THERE IS. Nashville is one big soap box that every songwriter seems to want to get up on and tell what they think about anything. Facebook, YOU TUBE has endless songs, videos, rants, designed just for that.
You don't hear any on the radio because frankly they are BORING. that is what people live with in their lives all the time, and to hear a bunch of Hollywood actors, overpaid athletes, or flavor of the moment country, rock, hip hop or rap stars blather on innsestantly about their opinions on anything gets really tedious.
If you want to carry on discussions, no one is stopping you. No one is stopping music or communication.
I try to only talk about things I have personal knowledge of. With the initial subject matter, the Dixie Chicks, I have a bit of experience with that from people that were very closely involved with them. I shared that, and you can believe or not, ignore it, factor it in, or whatever you want to do.
You can believe the seventh gunnman's shot richocheted off the Grassy Knoll, bounced off Bigfoot's head, and ignited the hidden explosives in the Twin Towers for all I care, really makes no difference. I only bring the knowledge of things I have personally seen or those who I am close to have been involved with. That is about all I can do. And whatever "snarky comments" that brings out, I guess snark away.
I'm always around to try and help any of you that I can if you want it. If I have something to add to something, I'll try and if you want to scroll past that, that is what they make scroll buttons for.
MAB

Pete, I tried to listen to your song but the Vocals need to be brought up a bit. A bit difficult to understand. It was meant to be played LOUD! http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=13080483&q=hi YOU WON'T PLAY THIS Oh, yes, I know the difference between Iran and Iraq I'm not some lame- brained good-ole-boy country songwriter hack Heard you promise to protect and defend this country from all harm You can't say you wasn't warned there was reason for alarm But you went back to Texas, vacationed for a month Now I agree with the Dixie Chicks your a very oily bunch chorus And you won't play this on your radio I'm not sayin' what you want me to say I'm not some jockey on a talk show whose opinion comes pre-paid Excuse me I'm for equality think workers should be getting more A living wage, a pension in old age I'm not happy about the War Thank you Mr President for that $300 check And when it's time for me to retire this country's gonna be a wreck You borrowed from the workin' man to give the rich the gain Our so-called Social Security if going down your deficit drain Forests coming under attack, pollution grows each day just make a large contribution, call Dick Cheney today chorus cool guitar stuff chorus again References- The Alan Jackson song where he said he didn't know the difference between Iran and Iraq The Bush admin. was warned and given intel on a possible terrorist attack. Bush went on vacation for a MONTH, -Condolezza Rice did NOTHING There was a budget surplus when Bush took office - instead of paying down the deficit, he gave it away as a tax cut that largely favored the rich. (Republicans favored this, but still complain about the deficit when there' a Democrat President) Bush was going to allow timbering of the old growth Redwoods Bush's clean air act was written by lobbyists for the utility companies. (Just as the Repub's new proposed law on industrial waste is secretly written by the Chemical Mfgr.'s lobby) Postscript- When Bush left office - the country was a 'total wreck" following his prescription that we should support the war effort by "going shopping". The war was never paid for. He left the financial collapse and the bill for the war to the next President to clean up. The Dixie Chicks took time off to raise families and are ready for a come back.

Humm, Pete, You should be President! Them guys getting elected now don't know nothing!
P.S. They are floating the idea of putting a woman on the 20 Dollar Bill. My nominations is Mammy Yokum. Who do you nominate? Is it raining out there in Oregon? They need the water down in California. Saw where somebody is taking chunks out of some of those Giant Redwoods. They should be hung for sure. Write a Hit!

"They are floating the idea of putting a woman on the 20 Dollar Bill"Wow, do you think they can come to an agreement on such an important issue? John The only problem, is that with the general discrepancy between men's and women's wages, it'll only be worth $17.50. midnite

I think Linda Lovelace would be an interesting choice. It is raining here. Did you know Oregon is part of a temperate rainforest region!--fact. It's Spring here. My Camellia is starting to bloom and it's going to be in the 70's next week. This is the earliest warmest Spring since I've been here. Redwoods - some people should never have been born. Hit songs on the way! Stay tuned! P.S. - Ray -go listen to my song "IS HOT!" , it's on the mp3 forum-give me a review.

For what it's worth, Pete, before jumping too hard, a lot of posts are getting weirdly edited lately that have nothing to do with the Mods or JPF. It's just something strange going on with the Site.
Not sure of the case with your song, because I see all(or part??) of it still in this thread. I'm just saying that weird sh!t is happening with random posts.
Midnite
It was my bad, Nite! Didn't realize there was a second page on this thread. It was deleted off the mp3 forum, though. Wish you hadn't quoted my rant, I was trying to cover my trail. I did take your advice and put a new BIAB backing track to my song "IS HOT". It's there now, it's hot.

Midnite " Thanks Nite! Yeah! I just inherited my wifes' old iphone, now I have to learn how to use it. Well. I'm on here late tonight I think I finally got "IS HOT" finished. Got the vocal aligned with the backing track and tuned it a bit. So it's posted now and thanks again for getting me going on that one.
