Jon Gomm New album The Faintest Idea - ORDER NOW at jongomm.com on CD, Double Vinyl or Deluxe Edition book www.jongomm.comI used to get nervous about playing live. I'd tell myself it's just one gig. It's not the Olympic final, everything does not rest on this one moment. But there's a vicious circle: The more stressed you are about fucking up, the more likely you are to [naughty word removed] up. And knowing that makes you more stressed, etc Or maybe, it's a virtuous circle: The more relaxed you are, the more likely you are to play well. Which makes you more relaxed. So... how do you flip it? I changed my goal. The goal should not be to get everything right with no mistakes. It should be bigger, way bigger. For example: To express yourself. Maybe to enjoy yourself, to spread untold joy into the lucky, lucky audience. Or to release everything, to scream into the audience like they’re human pillows. How well are you doing that? Playing or singing, that's just the mechanical bit, and it matters a million times less to the audience than it does to you. Playing music is really just the excuse you are using to do that other bigger thing. You can't really get that wrong, because the only possible judge of how well it went, is you. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=1401526467998608&set=a.214072133410720
There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com

"Do not endeavor to be the smartest kid in a dumb class. Instead, you are better off being the dumbest kid in the smartest class, where you will be challenged and you will learn. If you aren't growing, you are dying." -Brian Austin Whitney
