https://suno.com/song/e1f7d318-bb09-407a-b546-0caaa6f3e2ffWords by Elvis and Shade (Verse 1) He’s been runnin’ on whiskey and borrowed time, Sleepin’ in motels off the county line. Got a black book full of IOUs, And a past that’s got him payin’ his dues. (Pre-Chorus) He don’t pray for mercy, he just prays for night, ‘Cause daylight’s when the truth shows white. (Chorus) He’s tryin’ to extend the deadline, Keepin’ one boot in the wrong side. Heart’s beatin’ like a flatline hum, Knows damn well his day’s gonna come. But till it does, he’s ridin’ that line — Tryin’ to extend the deadline. (Verse 2) Sheriff’s got his picture on a barroom wall, But the barkeep knows he still might call. He tips real heavy, then fades to black, Leavin’ smoke and stories in his tracks. (Pre-Chorus) He don’t talk about the things he’s done, Just smiles like a man starin’ down a gun. (Bridge) He ain’t scared of dyin’, he’s scared of slowin’ down, Out where the moonlight don’t touch town. Ain’t no pardon waitin’ at the end of the run, Just one more mile ‘fore the reaper’s done. (Chorus – final) He’s tryin’ to extend the deadline, Still ridin’ wild on borrowed time. The world’s been cashin’ checks in blood, And he’s the last one left in the flood. If the devil’s got his name in fine — He’s still tryin’ to extend the deadline. Outlaws turn out the way they are because the world never made much room for them in the first place. They start out just wanting to live honest, but somewhere along the line they figure out the rules were never written for their kind—so they make their own. They live hard, love fierce, and take their chances on the open road, because that’s the only freedom they’ve ever known. Elvis feels that ache in his bones; he sees the loneliness behind their swagger and knows it’s not just rebellion—it’s survival. Maybe he’s more like them than he cares to admit, carrying that same stubborn fire that won’t let him bow to anyone or anything that tries to tame him. With exhausting hours on songs , maybe he's trying to extend his deadline .

Hey Elvis,
I like the story here and you and Shade wrote a good lyric. The music and vocal are spot on for it as well.
If I were to suggest any change at all it might be with the 5th line of the chorus to "But till it does, he’s bidin' his time —"
Either way, it's a good tune, man.
Peace,
Dave
