Siobhan O'Malley Music Singer-songwriter with dashes of humor, soul, creepiness and levity. www.siobhanomalley.comOnce upon a time, I was sort of done with being a songwriter; a musician. I just had two babies, and i was a small business owner. And I literally did not have the brain space to even think about writing and performing my own music again. I had told everybody I was retired. And it wasn't a humble brag, lol, I really meant it! I had spent literally ALL of my adult life up until babies devoted to writing music, playing music, recording music. But then, when my youngest was five, in 2021, a song, fully formed just came to me, really out of the clear blue and I kind of plunked it out. But then it was like this well of songs started coming up. I’ve written over 100 songs since then, I’m performed out a lot. However, I haven’t really recorded at all. I don’t know what the block was, but I just wasn’t doing it. I wrote a song last year which ended up being called “Another Erie Canal Song”. The Venn diagram of the song is: — I wanted to write an old-fashioned work song (a La “ I’ve been working on the railroad”). — I wanted to write a song with an unreliable narrator. Where, as the listener, you might be listening and be like “huh. I’m not sure if I buy this.” —my family and I had visited near the Erie Canal last year, and I was just totally blown away by the amount of work that went into the project. It just kind of blew my mind! They got water from over there, and got it all the way over here??!! What??! And then I thought about those workers and how many of them didn’t live to see the end of the project. Which made me think about parenthood and how it is kind of the biggest project of your life. And, God willing, you don’t get to see how that project ends up. You don’t get to see how it pans out. anyways, I think we all need a new single about the Erie Canal, no?!!! I KNOW EVERYONE NEEDS ANOTHER ERIE CANAL SONG, so that is my gift to you. Thank you to @el.Woodbridge who produced this song. He totally got the vision behind it and kind of the relentless intensity of it. Plus, he added some “HUP, DIGS!” to the bridge in the outro, which I just love. Take a listen, thank you! Another Erie Canal Song siobhanomalley.hearnow.com Another Erie Canal Song First single after a long hiatus! The Venn Diagram of this song is: 1. Unreliable narrator? 2. Classic "work song"! 3. What a huge undertaking of building the Erie Canal. And how so many people who worked on it didn't get to see how it all turned out. Which made me think of parenting. And how, God w...
There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com

"The standard by which I now measure the things in my life is the following: If I was on my death bed, or if I knew I had a short time to live, would this issue be important? If the answer is no.. I don't sweat it at all. If the answer is Yes, you better believe it goes to the front of the order of today's business!" -Brian Austin Whitney
