You are that fish Dom. Your oxygen is the residual acrimony that you can gin-up to survive off of at this site.
Tony is another fish thrashing on that pier.

But participation here is diminishing...primarily because of you and Tony.

I have found a site where I can put up songs, make an occasional comment in any manner that I choose as long as it is polite...and will not be pointlessly harassed by trolls and mental cases, who are allowed to run loose...by moderators who don't do what is necessary to protect their own property.

In fact you and Tony are banned by that other site. What a coincidence?

And I take the other site for what it is and what I am.

If I had ever been in a circumstance, in which, a real A-list music producer said that he wanted to use one of my songs, but with changes, I would respond, "tell me what you want and I will endeavor to get it done for you."

But here on this forum, some amateur-hobbyist-scrub named Dom with no real experience whatsoever wants to dictate to me and others how our songs should be written according to his scrub sensibilities. That is ridiculous.

And when Dom the scrub is rejected, then he pursues his only true skill-set which is insults and arguments...which is the primary reason for his participation.

And also the primary reason that interaction on this site is fading.

Call my name if you like, but I am becoming much less likely to respond...because my responses are your oxygen.

Oh am I that fish, well oddly enough you look like a fish. Interesting parallel.

And big dummy, it doesn't seem like you are less likely to respond.

I wish ud get out of here, and let the stench dissipate, you just cant seem to do it

Dom, you've never recorded a song before? All this time I thought you were the experienced songwriter/musician/producer.

You don't have shoeboxes full of cassette tapes with bits and pieces of hundreds of songs.

Some never heard from ahson, others died.

I also have several hard drives with tins of music of me doing my stuff. But im not able to gain access to them.

Never got good recordings but the volume of stuff pretty amazing.

And im still writing new ones.

I really have no need to write again, I have enough material to work on until judgement day

You've written "never really started" songs? Can you explain what that is? What do they sound/look like? Is a blank piece of paper a "never really started" song?

Dom, yes, I can guarantee that you've written more "never really started" songs than I have ... and probably anyone here combined.

correct. You not being a musician, and probably not able to relate.

But you using toontrack piano, and pretending to be playing in that video is about as tacky as I've seen yet.

But musicians start with.
A riff, a motif, a beat, a groove,.a title a vibe...

I have hundreds of songs that I never finished after that initial burst.

You cant relate because you don't create anything, your software does and now Ai.

But even so, if you had something good nobody would care

I know how to write a song. But I don't know how to write a "never really started" song like you. How does that work?

You don't do nothing but push buttons and take glory for robots , If you cut them in a studio then you can bark you actually did something. Takes ambition to get the studio , not talk you will ,

Yes Marty and I are on other site and try to avoid this place , I'm surprised Robs in this nonsense

Ben, I’ve been checking out that other site too. It’s clearly more structured and tightly moderated, which has its advantages.
That said, for me it can feel a bit too controlled at times. I understand why it’s set up that way, but I personally find more creative energy in a place where people can be a bit more spontaneous and expressive and show more character.
This site definitely has its issues — no question — but when things click, there’s a kind of honesty and real collaboration here that I haven’t quite found elsewhere. And I have to admit that I love to collaborate with other songwriters. That's where I learn the most. It's not just about songwriting. It's about actively working with someone else - someone who might have a completely different mindset - to create something new.
So I guess it comes down to what you’re looking for. I’m still here because I enjoy those moments when something real and creative happens. I like the moderators and the owner and I'm still finding one-of-a-kind co-songwriters here who help me take my songwriting to the next level - just plain folks. Ben, If that site suits you and Marty better, that’s great — different platforms work for different people.

Like I'm mentioned plenty of times , every one need to create an artist Youtube page . Forums are only a small platform.

On your come together song , I was just mentioned it's been kinda done . It might need a fresher approach . Yes your right though we have to talk it out in a calm matter

Sorry I'm late here. I've just been so busy lurking, co-lab'ing and planning for world domination.

What I miss?

Yes Marty and I are on other site and try to avoid this place , I'm surprised Robs in this nonsense

Why is it when you do it, its suddenly not pushing buttons.

Ive done the studio thing, all they really care about is your money, like here, they tell yiu you are a Star, cause if they said you suck you ain't giving them more money.

Ive been in studios with band members, looking at the drummer through the glass, and the bass player around a tool box, and did whole thing live.

Was always issues there too. One wrong note, and you wear it, forever.

Things weren't as easily fixed as they are today.

Today, the only way you need a studio is if you are making music to be played on main stream media.

In fact, even big timers record at home.

Tech is so good that you can get a great vocal sound with a good mic amd pre amp.

May not be top tier quality but good enough for most purposes.

Ive lived a life before forums ben. For years I was doing gigs every week, playing real guitar and singing.

Developing thick skin,

Decades of it on and off.

I delved into home recording and did a shitload of that stuff too, , I have old hard drives with tons of music on it that I can no longer get to.

You make it sound like going to a studio is revolutionary.

Its just cause decades later at the point of hitting a wall a long time ago, the easy way is now the right way.

My main credit is I had a song that was played every day in the college radio circuit.

My cousin helped me, she created a wave of buzz kept calling asking for it to be played, snd she's good looks so that helped with the male DJ

I also was offered avsinger songwriter contacts, longgggg time ago.

Start up companies looking for a nobody they could use to get somewhere.

Other than that its been an anti social self enclosed career, and a habit that will never go away.

But I do it my way when and how I want to, cause nobody else gives a dsmn

Same old Dave. 6 or 10 folks, with very different takes on the state of the gathering, trying not to self distruct…not doing too bad either. AI has set the world on a axis spin, John S is keeping us grounded w his piano.

Myself, I’m trying to stay grounded in DIY recording, and will post something in that arena eventually. Cheers!

Dom, Ben is right. Compared with the way you're generating songs, recording songs in a studio - even if it's your home studio - is creating something new on your own. If you are as experienced as you sound, you would know the difference.

Jim's more of a crooner than people realize, he's just as much Bing crosby or Sinatra as he is a rock n roller.

Not bad, need more vibrato

It's not revolutionary . Taking a AI song with its production ideas and using session players to replicate it, is revolutionary . It's a common practice now. Now you turned it into an artist song by you singing it .

It's a new chapter in the evolution of music. Suno basically is a demo service for a penny . Where as before demos would cost you $600.00 . it's all a matter of budgets to turn that into an artist song .

Like every business on the planet , economics comes in the play all the time . At our age it's only the challenge to complete the goal in a studio .To make a ROI like we all know would take being young and backed by $ to make money

Ben, that other site is not exactly the way you guys always describe it. There, political songs are a legitimate genre. They are intended to provoke and agitate, and by definition they are failures if they dont do exactly that. Over at Muse they can't guarantee that someone won't be offended by someone else's posts there. In fact, they can pretty much guarantee that someone WILL be offended sooner or later if you stick around long enough. Politics is offensive. It attracts pretty offensive people. I posted a political song there. We all know how Marty reacts when I post a political song. He tried to get it off the board. He hijacked my thread and insulted me. Like he always does. He called out to the moderators. He wasn't successful and had to stop. The moderator actually said: "as far as political songs go, this one is actually quite mild, which broadens its appeal. So, good work."
So what did I learn? The grass is not always greener on the other side. If we would all behave just a little bit, this place would be awesome.

Its there's also so many people registered there who come sporadically, Marty cant assert control of it like he did here.

But as long as people keep posting songs and giving the same pat on the back to everybody, the entire process is a bust.

That site BTW, was NEVER really good
They didn't have the writers we once had here

Well looky here,

Rob and Dom, two perennial dysfunctionals have taken a break from hacking on each other, in order to celebrate a public victory over a common enemy. The evil one, Marty.

You two remind of married couples who hate each other...and can only ever agree on who they mutually hate...until all the objects of their hate are driven away...and they return to hating each other.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend"

Congratulations on your victory Rob...

you sent me the seeding bizarre emails from out of nowhere telling me that DOM needed my help. Then you set the trap with the DON song...and I challenged it to find out that I had a mistaken impression about what is allowed on the other site.

Then you came back to this site, in order to publicly celebrate. Nice work.

Well...
C'est la vie. It's just a hobby and a song site.

FYI, I am going to remain as a member of the other site. I am going to avoid your posts altogether there, and let you and the like-minded have your TDS circle jerks unopposed.

It would be good if you ignored my posts also. I do not need your validation or sensibilities regarding my songs.

And congrats on "coming together" with Dom's counterpart. That should blossom into another lovely relationship.

I have never collabed with Rob B, and I certainly wouldn't start on that.

If anything, in my tenure here. If there's one takeaway, Dom does not play that.

Dom calls it as he sees it, and doesn't need an army to defend him

Ok Dom,

Up until the email in the following link, I had not exchanged emails with Rob for 15 months.
He had been ankle-biting at some of my posts lately and I was ignoring him.
Then, with no interaction, I get this email.

I read it, and then attempted to dissuade Rob from using my email to annoy me further, and he keeps ankle-biting.
Finally, I didn't even read whatever final bit of drivel arrived from Rob.

He led with your name, Dom.
It's unintelligible to me.
Maybe you and Rob can explain it to me.

Many thanks,

Marty

Don't lose focus Rob.
Explain to Dom and myself the purpose of sending me this email leveraging Dom's name, in the absence of anything being said that led up to it.

And then explain why...when I made it clear that I wanted nothing to do with you, you continued ankle-biting and badgering like a little rabid squirrel?

Bill, this could be some kind of starting point:

I got that flexibility, I can bend ‘til I don’t feel a thing
Twist my truth to fit your world, call it love in a fragile string
But there’s a backlash coming, you don’t understand
When you pull this heart too far
It snaps like a rubber band
