I blame MAB-n-Rob! https://soundclick.com/song/15218806My gitar's ridin' shotgun and wearing my old hat This beat up old truck has been to Hell-n-Back Been playin' local bars, dreamin'bout the Opry If home is where your love is, may the good Lord forgive me Every street sign is tellin' me what direction I should choose My heart says “Keep on goin'" but my rent is past due I’m two hours from Nashville but can’t afford the gas My tank is full of dreams and my money’s burnin' fast I sing songs about life, truth, and love that never lasts I’m two hours from Nashville but can’t afford the gas I play for wings and beer 'caue I can't afford groceries Workin' at Walmart barely pays for guitar strings The ladies like to dance but dismiss me with a laugh Died alone and broke will be my epitaph They say that I'm hopeless but love to hear me sing I swear that this stop sign is mocking me I’ll show'em, Someday That manager at Walmart won't be laughing at all Thar cross-eyed girl they hired to be a greeter She can be my backup singer!

This isn’t about whether your version sounds good or not. It’s about giving proper credit. If you want to experiment with different directions, that’s fine. Just make sure the original writers are acknowledged. That keeps things respectful and clear for everyone. In the interest of "respectful and clear collaboration"... Almost 20yrs ago, MAB and I were constantly arguing about "Music Industry Standards" and definitions of "Cliché". (I would call him a pretentious A$$, and he would call me an ignorant Abalama hack) So, I should point out that, based upon MAB's authoritative style of critique which somehow passed for wisdom on an amateur public songwriting site...; My original version of this song (20yrs ago), was always intended to be a joke. Sorry, Rob 😆😜
