This is the first song I wrote and recorded in my new studio in Florida. New software, new equipment, etc. A lot of new things to learn and I do miss a lot of the old stuff I had been using for years. The sound isn't perfect but I hope my new songs in the future will be better and much easier to record.
I found the lyrics in the lyric section of this site: https://www.jpfolks.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/1193479/wasting-my-time.html#Post1193479
They were written by Carroll Kiphen and I found these lines very inspiring. I hope you like the song.

All the best
Robert

WASTING MY TIME

Verse
Do you really not know
Must I explain
What the rest of the world can see.

I thought it was obvious
How I feel
I thought you felt the same as me

Pre chorus
Was there a misunderstanding
Was there something I didn’t see
Have I misread your intentions
Mistaken your feelings for me

Chorus
Maybe I’m a fool
Chasing the wind
Maybe I’m wasting my time
If you don’t know how much
I love you
Maybe I’m wasting my time

Verse
Am I spinning my wheels
Going nowhere
Has this all been a waste of my time

Was I a fool to think
You loved me too
Was my heart in love with a lie

Pre chorus

Chorus

Bridge
Has me loving you been a mistake
Another heartbreak for me
Have I been a fool to dream that
You could ever fall for me

Nicely done Robert....good interpretation of the lyric ...some BGV would really move it up a notch or two

Hey Steve,
thanks for commenting. I agree with you and Elvis that background vocals could make a big difference. So far, I haven't come up with something that sounded like it fits. I'll keep playing around with the idea.

Hey Tony,
thank you for the feedback. I don't have my AI vocalists here (in Florida) in my new studio. It's kind of like DIY again. I'm not a vocalist but in such a recording the listener gets an idea of how the lyrics can go with the underlying melody.

Take care
Robert

It's a pretty good pop melody for sure. And I think you did your best to make a book where there is none.

Wasting my time, the way you are singing the memodysounds much bigger and important than what is being said .

That hook could be ten times stronger with a good lyrical hook on that part

The guitar riff s so obviously U2, and I bet whatever software your using says With or without you, or some reference like that.

Doesn't fit right cause it's not that style.

But it sounds good, And if prefer the real vocals over ai

Hi Fdem,
I appreciate your feedback. I'm glad you think the song sounds pretty good.
The only software I used on this track was my DAW (Logic) but hearing that it sounds a bit like a big hit is a good thing, I think ...

Lol who is playing the guitar? Playing 30 years I know what one sounds like

I'm not dismissing anything, your using a uu33 sample and prolly don't even know it.

And nothing wrong with it

It's ok look at the ai thread music is going through an identity crisis. Wish ud view me as a supporter not an enemy

Hi Fdem,
I'm sorry, but there is no "real" guitar in my recording. I bought a Yamaha Genos 2 and all the sounds (bass, drums, guitars, etc.) that you hear are selectable in that instrument. It's a keyboard, not a guitar. Must be pretty good if even you didn't recognize the difference. I didn't use any additional software or instruments. I recorded each instrument sound to a different Logic track. The Genos 2 is really awesome. What's a uu33 sample? I actually really would like to view you as a supporter.

No, I know there's not a real guitar, but there is a guitar sample playing that part . When you said no, I'm like who's playing guitar. it seemed like you got offended that I said it was a U2 sample. I think I typed the name wrong. U2

What I'm saying is the u2 riff doesn't fit that song well but the idea gets across

Fdem,
I sounded offended??? Where did I sound offended? Well, now you know that what you hear isn’t a real guitar. It’s good that we don’t have to discuss that subject any further.

Honestly, I now do have to admit that I find it very annoying that you apparently know much better how I recorded my song than I do. I’ll explain it one last time… I used a Genos 2 keyboard to record all the instrumental tracks in Logic X. 3 of the 8 instrumental tracks I recorded are guitar tracks. I used a folk guitar sound, a 12-string guitar sound and an e-guitar sound on 3 separate tracks and mixed them appropriately. I used the e-guitar only in the riff. I wish I could have used some of the midi samples like I do every now and then, but my new studio is not completely up and running yet. I did not use midi samples in this recording.

Have a nice day.

So I was right you were offended

I simply said that guitar part is a clone of U2.

It doesn't matter how you recorded it, if it's a sample ,whatever argument you wanna bark back with

If you like it that's cool

You can't be told anything. No more input from me again

Fdem,
no, you are wrong. I wasn't offended by your initial comments. But your continuous claims that i used sampled software was very annoying. It looks like you see everything differently. And, you didn't "simply" say the riff was a U2 clone. You repeatedly claimed I used some kind of sampled software, which I didn't. Now you claim it doesn't matter how I recorded it. Then why make such a fuss of it in the first place?

If you used a sample , or played it on a keyboard, or whatever you used

It doesn't fit the song .

'"claim*'

I hereby present this esteemed claim to the jury lolol lololol

Go head tell everybody here how you did it, they are very intently reading.

Dom,
You're entitled to your opinion of the song. If you think the lyrics, vocals, production, or mix are bad, that's your right.

What I find interesting is that you're criticizing a song that I wrote, arranged, performed, recorded, mixed, and produced myself.

Your work has generally been presented differently. All you do is write lyrics. You use AI-generated melodies, music, vocals and arrangements to bring them to life. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's a very different process from writing and producing every aspect of a song yourself.

So while I respect your right to have an opinion, for this song I'm more interested in hearing production, performance, and recording critiques from people who have actually done those things themselves.

Great expression...."if you want to beat a dog, you can always find a stick"

Dom, you had to go back to 2024 to find one you could use?

And yes, you have not released anything naturally yourself that I know of....but that is fine too.

One suggestion use SUNO....forget UDIO....

Couch pays $10 per month and commercially owns his stuff. What makes his songs work so well is that he can articulate very finely what he wants...so his prompts can create some fine music.

Gotta think based on your self evaluation that you can do so too

No i couldn't go back, that's how long he's been using suno. Thats what he's capable of without AI, so in no position to judge my writing

Why are you mentioning couchgrouch?

I'd bet that lf Couchgrouch put up a [naughty word removed] one, you would not say it is.

THAT'S the difference

Dom,
The recording you just rediscovered was never presented as a radio-ready production. It was a quick draft, something musicians and studio people create all the time while developing ideas. But you couldn't know that.

I've spent more than 30 years working in studios with producers, engineers, and musicians all around the world. I've been using AI music tools for only a small fraction of that time. So when you present a rough draft from 2024 as if it represents the full extent of my abilities, you're creating a false picture. People who have followed my work over the years know what I've done, both before AI and after AI. They can judge for themselves.

You're entitled to dislike my songs and criticize my recordings. But bumping up an old demo and pretending it defines my capabilities isn't a serious argument. Honestly, you're making a fool of yourself.

Neither was any of my songs presented as radio ready but oh wait that different.....

Look, John doesnt know, but , when entering lyrics into Ai, its using the lyrucs to create a melody and arrangement, haven't heard any Ai couch songs aside from the few he posted here, which were kinda clumsy to me.

Haven't heard anything recent, there's always a learning curve with tech

But he is a vivid lyricist, ai is capable of interpreting those lyrics into a audio visual.
His Meter and structure are always good, that night be another reason.

If im doing pop music, you dont get that dynamic, its just conversation.

If you look at my story songs, you can hear a whole different landscape. Such as, " before you think one night"

It places you in the gulf of Mexico.

It has nothing to do with articulating prompts. Prompts may fine tune it, but it's narrative driven.

Its also having an ear.

Not all songs achieve the same things

Hey, im right....

beats.Long, open vowels push the system toward slow tempos, ballads, or operatic sustaining.Rhyme schemes establish the predictable patterns that the melody anchors itself to.Capitalization and Brackets Add DramaALL CAPS can force the AI to sing with more aggression, volume, or grit.Parentheses (like this) often generate background vocals, echoes, or harmonies. If you are trying to achieve a specific sound, let me know. I can help you format your next track by structuring your metatags, adjusting word rhythm, or optimizing your style prompts to match your lyrics perfectly.

Oh Dom... you've got so much to learn. You can even type in the chords that you want Suno to use. That's where the fun begins for songwriters who also write their own music.

I can write lyrics that make absolutely no sense to you and Suno will generate a really cool song. Listen in if you don't believe me: https://soundclick.com/song/15119905

Btw, you're hijacking one of my threads again. But that's ok. You're bumping it up all the time. Thanks!

Don't even go there.

Wow, I love being so right...

Here's my advice, learn how to write songs first.

the lyrics drive the music more than prompts do.

That is a spot-on observation. In Suno, your lyric sheet acts as a secret steering wheel for the entire composition. While style prompts set the general genre boundaries, the structural formatting, punctuation, and emotional rhythm of your text dictate how the AI actually arranges the track.

LOL....love it Rob....bi lingual songwriter ...great lyric....lots of nice pictures and emotions....umlauts and all smile
(you do know German is simply Dutch with a speech impediment right?)

Do you pay SUNO? So that these actually commercially belong to you? Meaning our videos are totally ours?

And Thank You For.... was a nice followup

Dom, like it or not, whether or not you love being right, it is what it is and IMO better than UDIO
I find SUNO "richer" in sound, fuller....while what I hear of UDIO is that the music is clear but somehow thinner

of course it could simple be a case of the prompts...dunno.....I use neither.

I use headphones.........

And please link me to what you believe is your absolute best piece of original music....AI or not, preferably the latter

I promise to give you my honest and considered critique

Suno may very well be better.

I started udio when Mike Z presented it to us here.

Been using it ever since.

Suno appears to have alot more money behind it, and most people use terms AI and Suno interchangeably.

But end of day, unless you are the artist, its a demo.

And a demo that billions of others have.

I will not be marketing of my Ai experiments, its not me.

The goal is to be singing and playing, my entire composition, using Ai as a band, and producer.

In the meantime, its quite annoying, that everybody is suddenly a music producer.

And to a point where they want everything to sound like what they like.

Im not interested in what John V likes.

Theres too many producer cooks in the kitchen.

I suspect its only going to get worse.

Music is a form of self expression, and whoever wants to come along for the ride, is welcome

Whether Udio or Suno is "better" depends entirely on your workflow, musical style, and goals. Suno is generally better for quick, "click-and-go" songs with great lyrical clarity. Udio is better for high-fidelity instrumentals, complex song structures, and deep editing control.SunoBest for: Pop, EDM, rap, and highly structured vocal-heavy songs.Workflow: Fast and simple. It generates full, radio-ready tracks (up to 8 minutes) in under a minute.Features: Includes an integrated editing studio for extending songs, multi-track mixing, and exporting

stems.Commercial Rights: Offers clearer commercial ownership, with partnerships with labels like Warner Music Group.UdioBest for: Electronic music, ambient textures, jazz, and pristine, authentic-sounding instruments.Workflow: Modular and "Lego-like." You craft songs block-by-block, usually in 32-second increments.Features: Superior audio fidelity, richer instrument separation, and highly precise in-painting/remixing tools.Downloads: Following agreements with Universal Music Group, Udio handles downloads and stems uniquely.

Dom, no problem if you do not want feedback...now.... coupled with what you have expressed about Rob, your ongoing feud with a shameless poet who shall not be named (SPwsNBN) while undergoing treatment for ATDS...is there anyone here you would like to interact with?

Feedback is great, but when its me its always negative.

everybody else is perfect.

People realize that too, and have messaged me about it.

I certainly dont need tiur 80 year old, bleeding heart, liberal fake reviews.

Keep your erection up for Couchgrouch, now you rank him with Phil Ramone as producer.

Rob b is aligned with your whack politics, so yiu tell him he's great too

Just don't think I believe any of your comments

Don't be a twat John.

I have no Feud at all with Dom or you as long as you all quit making references to me, veiled or otherwise. That is not much to ask.

Beyond that, I have no concern for what goes on here. Y'all can post whatever you want to and you'll hear no opposition from me.. unless it is about me.

Please leave me out.

That's right really, I could care less if Marty is on the site. If he attacks my music, ill deal with it.

But John thinks he owns this place.

Hes not a writer or musician, and refuses to acknowledge it in others, unless if its in his weird brain to do so.

He speaks with j authority although nobody knows why he thinks he has authority.

Remember when he tried to beat me in football picks?

Thats his mentality, he thinks he's in same league with everybody.

He cant write

Dom you take things too personally....at least for me it is about music...but yes it got side tracked at times when things got testy

And Marty...I see you as Al Pacino in The Godfather, complaining about being pulled back in every time you think you are out.
I made absolutely no mention of your name, only a reference very few people would pick up on, and very quickly....as if you are hunched over your computer waiting....you storm in, call me a twat, and storm out.
And you associate yourself with the post.

Indifference Marty. Much better tactic. We are not the dysfunks you are looking for

LOL Dom...time to take a vacation away from yourself. You are entitled to your beliefs and welcome to express them.

But lashing out as you are...and citing a sporting bet as an example of my attitude????? Really man

I think you are inventing something that is not there because you do not want to share anything with me.

My work speaks for itself on Youtube Dom...you don't have to like it, you might do much better....shame though you do not want to show how much better....just talk about it
