I’d love to get your thoughts on a new track I’ve been working on called “Coffee To Go.” It’s a lighthearted, narrative-driven indie/bedroom pop song about a brief meet at a coffee shop that turns into something more. The story follows three distinct encounters - a coffee shop, a downtown bar, and a walk by the sea - where the casual nickname "coffee to go" eventually becomes a sign that the relationship isn't just temporary anymore. I hope you like it. COFFEE TO GOhttps://soundclick.com/song/15356301[Instrumental Intro] [Verse] Walked in for a cup one sunny day She caught my eye, I looked away Sun in her hair, eyes bright and blue She asked, “What can I get for you?” [Verse] I said, “A coffee, please — to go” She handed it over, nice and slow Took my cup and walked outside But left my heart there by her side [Chorus] Coffee to go, coffee to go That little cup set my heart aglow One little smile, a quick “hello” And just like that, I’m falling slow Coffee to go, coffee to go Who knew love could start with that “hello”? One quick glance and now I know I fell in love with coffee to go [Break] [Verse] Later that night at a downtown bar I saw her, she looked like a movie star She walked right over, laughed at me “Hey there, coffee to go,” said she [Verse] We talked a while, in the neon glow I wanted to ask, but I moved too slow Night came to a close, but before I could go She waved and said, “See you, coffee to go” [Chorus] Coffee to go, coffee to go That little cup set my heart aglow One little smile, a quick “hello” And just like that, I’m falling slow Coffee to go, coffee to go Who knew love could start with that “hello”? One quick glance and now I know I fell in love with coffee to go [Verse] Two days later, down by the sea She turned around and spotted me Walking the tide in the afternoon light Everything suddenly felt so right [Verse] I found my nerve and took her hand “Can I buy you a drink down by the sand” She laughed and said, “You already know” But this time, let’s not make it to go [Bridge] It wasn't planned, it wasn't slow It started with a cup to go A simple spark, a sudden light Turned a quiet day into something bright [Interlude] (Coffee to go) (To go, to go, to go) (Coffee to go) (To go, to go, to go) [Final Chorus] Coffee to go, coffee to go That little cup set my heart aglow One little smile, a quick “hello” And just like that, I’m falling slow Coffee to go, coffee to go Who knew love could start with that “hello”? One quick glance and now I know I fell in love with coffee to go [Outro] (Coffee to go) (To go, to go, to go) (Coffee to go)

Not very many coffee songs Rob. Good angle. I wrote a song once titled "I'll Bring You Coffee". About a women bringing her love a coffee, to show affection. I got lambasted on the Internet for being a chauvinist. Go figure..

Thanks, John! 😄 I guess it all depends on how you serve the coffee! ☕😂 In my song, the coffee is just the beginning of a love story. Maybe we need a duet: “I’ll Bring You Coffee — Coffee To Go!” 😉🎶

Whoa! This checks every box. The write, the music, mood, the performance, the attention to our PERSONAL production responsibilities that we tend to surrender to A.I. Yeah, these tools were used but the human stamp that blots out any hint of an a.i. assist, .....all the better, no? It's a tool and when you work with it and not try to minimize A.I.'s hand in it in order to highlight your own stamp, avoid the critics, it hurts the overall product IMHO. I see this a lot. Though not with you, Rob...I'm speaking in generalities and dropping it here. I'm guilty as charged.
But when you surrender that guilt and utilize these tools to properly launch our words and stories as we envisioned and it happens to be the proper vehicle to get that message out, you get a banger like this. I love this! Well done sir.

I love this! Well done sir. Michael, thank you for your kind words. I think you nailed it on every level. I used to be very negative about AI when it came to songwriting. I was always against the idea of just pressing a button to create something. I wanted to contribute my own ideas and input to shape the song I was “hearing” in my head. Over the years, AI tools have evolved to the point where they've become genuinely useful creative tools. I'm a writer, musician, vocalist (although not a very good one 😉), and producer. I could still create songs the way I used to, but honestly, why would I? AI makes the process much easier, faster, cheaper, and often produces results I could never achieve on my own. I'm constantly learning new things that help me get closer to the sound I'm envisioning. I almost always download the stems and work on them in my DAW, cutting things out, combining different takes, adding instruments, and making all kinds of adjustments until I'm happy with the result. This is a good example of what that process can sound like. You're one of the few people who seem to notice the additional work I put into many of my AI-assisted recordings, and I really appreciate that. Thank you again for what you wrote. Your words put a big smile on my face!

This is a cute song, Rob. I like the lyrics and the throwback to the 70's style of music.
When I first read the title, it reminded me of the song I wrote - "Corner Store Crush".
Well done, sir.
Peace,
Dave

Came back to this for a closer look Rob
Nice song but I think what I caught was an overabundance of simple rhymes that were there for the sake of rhyming...it turned "the lyric scan" into a "meh" and restricted what you could do with this
Love the premise but then you set up coincidental meetings...and then it ends on two "meh" choruses
I feel you only scratched the surface of where you could take this.
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

There's one drug the whole world is addicted to, and that's coffee. Maybe 10% are on the wagon. But statistics lie, just like polls.
It's the lesser of a thousand evils. We don't know who made that judgment call. Probably Kaldi, the guy who supposedly discovered coffee. Let's go with him on that logic and judgment call.
It's an energy-boosting drug. The addiction kicks in the moment you wake up.
Addicts line up every day to feed that addiction, usually greeted with, "Would you like a croissant with that?"
I'd say Starbucks is the most popular drug dealer in the world.
Is there a warning sign in Starbucks?
WARNING: THIS DRUG IS ADDICTIVE.
Nope.
"Please drive up to the window." I coined the phrase “Liquid Cocaine.”
Cool song Rob .
