Can anybody point me in the right direction of companies looking for JINGLE WRITERS in the UK or indeed worldwide?
I have only so far come up with companies that are selling ready made or "made to measure" ones but thats actually what I want to be doing myself.
any info will be well received with thanks.

Advertising agencies.

As Truman said Advertising Agencies.
Also to add.
Start small with a local ad agency.
Sometimes a small agency might be one guy.
Be Prepared before you meet with him.
Have some samples of 15 and 30 second clips.
If you don't have any than pick a couple local companies and just simply pretend that you had to write them a jingle.
Or if you contact the agent they might have a few low budget clients that may want a jingle but just don't have the high ad budget that a large company might have.
That's where you get your start.
I wrote one for a local audio video store that has been playing on local TV for about three years now... To bad I don't get paid every time it's played..
Made a Whopping $400 off it.
It was fun and a good learning experience.

It must be catchy, Heavy Chorus, and define the Company image..

If you really want to learn that side of the music business. A guy name Jefferey Fisher writes alot of good books.

ANother Note..
Large Ad agencies that work with large Companies that have large budgets only use Big Jingle Houses with Proven Track Records.
It's just as hard to write a Jingle For McDonald's as it is to Get Signed to a Major Record Label.. Not kidding...

There is a saying in the Advertising Business.

"The only way to get in the Ad Business is to be in the Ad Business"

Even our Local TV stations use Nashville Jingle Houses. How that works is that TV stations that sell Advertising space for Local tv time have package deals that include jingles. They wrap it in so that they can make some money off it too. twice a year the jingle house REP comes to town and gathers up all the work.. A local guy doesn't stand a chance when you have only one or two TV stations in a small town. Same with Radio Stations...
So the bottom line is that you can only go after low budget clients that don't think they can afford a jingle.
and find a local Ad Agent willing to take a chance on you.

also try local tv stations - they often do commercials for local firms. But advertising agencies are the usual route.

Local TV Networks are usually tied into the large Jingle Companies.
Like I said they package it up with their sales.

It doesn't hurt to ask.
Try the Advertising sales department.
Usually They will tell you how jingles are packaged with ad time slots..

The same with Local Radio Stations
ask the Ad Sales Department.

You'll probably find that they don't use local Studios for Jingles unless you are near a big city.

I know that alot of companies over here (UK)
have "in house writers" and I am also aware of the difficulties I will have coming up against the "big guys" but all of your advice has given me more options for my master plan of world jingle domination lol.I managed to get a few jingles on a NEW YORK internet radio station called RHYTHMflow.net, so at least I know that I have the potential to go forward.Once again thank you all & if there is anythiong I can help you with in return,dont hesitate to contact me.

I�m starting to get the feeling it�s not very wise not to be a member. I don't believe Taxi has ever done jingles. Those are usually advertising agencies. And written specifically for the product. Or major hit songs liscenced.

Really? Have you used Taxi? They have gotten countless JPF members placements in films, TV and commercials. They've helped get our members signed to record deals, though that era is mostly passed. I am not aware of specific jingle listings, but I bet they've had some as they have a wide range of constant opportunities. The only people who usually complain about Taxi are either people who have never used them, or people who don't or can't send in material good enough for listings. So many people haven't the slightest clue what is appropriate for a given opportunity because they have an unrealistic appraisal of their own work. In other cases, the refuse to write for the needs of the client but instead think their amazing song is so good that they should use it anyway. And in the end, even if someone is clueless, talentless, doesn't follow instructions, is unwilling to learn or improve or take advantage of the educational offerings of TAXI or the feedback they get on each work not placed and is a pain in the ass, TAXI still offers their money back if they are not happy with their service.

So your flippant "facepalm" comment is neither appreciated nor valid.

They charge way too much money in my opinion. If they help people that's great.

$300 for the annual fee and $5 a song to get someone who works in A&R to listen to a song and give critical feedback? If that's too expensive to get better at your craft, less than a $1 a day, plus the ears at $5 a shot...

Are you sure you want to be a successful writer?

p.s. - I've been to the offices on multiple occasions. There are real A&R peeps from the labels there listening to the music.

Got my first TV placements through TAXI - Dateline NBC and Bad Girls Club. For TAXI you have to have broadcast quality recordings and be spot-on for the listing. However, it's a great learning experience even if you're not up to broadcast quality. It's a great motivator. When I composed for TAXI listings, I had the mindset I was hired by the client to compose for them. Made it more exciting.
