Howdy Anthony! That was totally new info to me about the other first songs. So cool..love both of those songs! Doubt if mine is destined to be QUITE the standard of those..but who knows? It would sure blow me away if it did go somewhere. The guy who signed me is Sherrill Blackman (yeah he IS a guy). Has been around Nashville for ages. Built up Buckhorn Music (when they broke Kristofferson to the big time), Leanne Rimes, Trace Adkins, etc. Also worked for NSAI for a number of years. He does not accept unsolicited material, however..but I do have an open door now to submit more material anytime I have something I think he might be looking for. He does a lot of Christian and gospel stuff these days (besides country)..but no, as he calls it, "Diane Warren-type ballads". Of the two guys who were here with that seminar, he was the last one I ever anticipated hearing back from.

Howdy Blue!! Thanks so much, my fellow Coloradoan!! Do you by any chance ever go to any of the COMA or NSAI meetings in Denver? If not..I would sure encourage you to do that. I don't get down there much myself..but that NSAI seminar/pitch session was too good an opportunity to miss.

Well Bobbie, that has to be one of the best choruses I ever had the pleasure of reading. I have to say I literally jumped up and down this morning when I received your email about this great news! I just wanted to join the rest of the good folks here at JPF to publicly congratulate you. I've known you've had it in you all along. It's the reason I spend so much time composing music for your lyrics.

Hi Bobbie. Gosh, Gone for a little bit and stuff happens. Congrats. A publ. contract where they say they've got a place for it means a whole lot more. I'm glad I always try to add to my comments on rules and stuff that content is still the most important.
Reminds me of some star now ,that when he pitched his songs, he played them all and the publ asked him if he had anything else and he said, well I've got this one but I don't think all that much of it ,and when he played it , the publ. or whoever, said. this is the one you should be pushing.

Thank you SO much for the sweet comments. Although I was a bit disappointed that they didn't both immediately grab the stuff I played for them at the seminar..I suspect this was better. Having them take the cd back with them to listen to, gave them the chance to hear a broader range of my songs. But now that I have an open door there, I can send more anytime. THAT is worth it's weight in gold with these guys. STAYING in is much easier than GETTING in. I think the most shocking thing for me was the song he chose...because he did have to listen to 16 other songs to get to it. So...he must have been serious when he said he saw talent there, because I know he would not have kept listening that long if he hadn't. Guess it was the way things were meant to work out.

Howdy Wy!! Thank you dear buddy! Those kind words mean so much. I sure hope this one goes somewhere. If anyone can get a cut on it, I think Blackman probably can. He says he won't even consider a song unless he is truly convinced it will get a cut. Hope he is right on this one. I know we all tend to get co caught up on how the "rules" say we are supposed to write that sometimes we may actually mess up some gems we have in our catalog. When I told John, the composer about this..he said, "You know, that was one song I never got around to going back to fix up. I as going to add a bridge to that..and never got around to it." A bridge might have made this too long..and I suspect the brevity was one of its' attractions. Just my guess. Just delighted that the publisher heard something in this one. Thanks again!

(Just home from a month of vacation and now babysitting for a week in B'ham. I'm on my grandson's computer) This is just about the best news I could have hoped to see! Sure do appreciate you taking time to come to look for me and share your support. I am sure "hoping" this time is THE one to go somewhere. It's actually not my first publishing contract. Have had several that never ended up with a cut..so I suspect it is not a good idea to count on a cut this time either, but the optimist in me says if anyone can get a cut, Blackman can. From everything I know about him, he really does have his finger on the pulse. We shall see. Thanks once again!
