Between Doc and I, we have e-mailed a copy of the press release to over 700 bands off the "Band Link" at www.tampabayentertainment.com Also all the entertainment resources from that site. We have contacted the Suncoast Blues Society, Southeast Music Alliance, and NSAI and have been assured by those coordinators that the info was being passed along. Yesterday I went and hung notices at 5 local music stores and this weekend I'll do some more. The week of the event I will personally be calling over 80 folks on our chapter list to remind them. When I e-mailed the press release to the local radio, TV stations and publications I also asked them to consider coverage of the event. Getting folks to respond on the board lately is difficult. I guess were all busy. Id like to see some more confirmation, it would help to justify our efforts but Im keeping the faith. If we hold it, will they come? Yeah! Keep Strummin' Al

Al,
You and Doc are doing a great job for sure. I was wondering which leaders of other orgs. and local industry folks (like the Radio guy you told me about etc..) might be there so I can plan what I am going to talk about and present. Laskow has his stuff in a format he uses in many cities, but I try to cater what I say to who is there and it helps if I know who else I might have to work with, introduce etc.. If the answer is none of the above, that's fine too.. I just want to be prepared.

Fellow Folks, Please get on the phones and e-mail everyone you know involved in music about this seminar. We really need your help to get the last call out. We need a good turnout if we want to show we're a happening scene for future event. Thanks, Al Alvarez

Dear Al and the Tampa Chapter members, I have put the word out about tonight's presentation. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend due to a rehearsal for our show tomorrow night. I am fortunate to have found a new band lineup, and they have asked me to stay in Gainesville to finalize our set. I hope to see all of you soon! Take care, cris ------------------ Cris Williams Cris Williams Music (352) 373-7288 www.criswilliams.comcriswilliamsmusic@hotmail.com

The seminar last night was a blast! Thank you Michael Laskow for sponsoring it and for your insights into the music business. It was great seeing you and Brian again. And thank you Brian for your insights as well. About 200 people showed up. Many hung around after the formal presentations. Virtually all the comments overheard about the event were very positive. Most said it was much better and more beneficial than they expected it to be. Most also expressed an interest in becoming JPF members. We'll see how many follow through. Thank you all the Tampa Chapter members who did make it last night, especially those who helped run it! And as always, thanks Al! ------------------ Stone Marmot www.stonemarmot.com Stone Marmot on Soundclick

Hey I totally agree this event was fun, informational and well worth the time and effort. Michael Lasko is an incredibly dynamic speaker with great insight and honest information on the music business but also having a great sense of humor and a genuineness about him that makes him tangible to us all. Brian's segment was great - I enjoyed hearing the Pink story and it was just nice knowing how JPF was born, where his travels have taken him and the sense of comeraderie this group has shown for eachother and for him in opening their homes to him and getting to know him on a personal level. I enjoyed meeting you in person too, Brian!! Thank you for taking the time and effort to do this for us. And very big thank you's to Al, Doc, Dan, Andy, Richard Garland and any others of you who helped man the table and coordinate with Al to make this a success. TampaStan, thanks for sitting with me - enjoyed the company and it was nice to meet Charlie Souza in person too. See you all soon and here's to a very successful year for all of us. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) L, Cindy North 2 South

Fellow Folks, I am very pleased to announce the successfull turnout to the Taxi/JPF event on Jan 29 was a whopping 235. Alot of leg work and promotion went into this and like any special event theres always the chance of not having a good turn out. We are very pleased. You should know that Doc Lovett was instrumental in helping to get the word out to the other Tampa Bay Musicians Organizations as well as many media sources...Thanks Doc. It was great to see so many faces from our local chapter who by their continued participation only confirms their dedication to their craft. I was pleased to be introduced by Michael Laskow and was allowed to speak about the Tampa Bay Chapters success and invite the attendees to join us this season. There were about 90 contact forms filled out showing interest in attending our next chapter meeting so get ready to meet and network with even more talented folks from our region. I was very pleased to be able to introduce Brian Austin Whitney, the founder and spearhead of the entire JPF organization. He covered some great issues concerning the independent artist today and stressed the importance of community within our local talent pool. Michael Laskow the President of Taxi then took the floor to tell the Taxi story, how it came about and how it continues to help and service the serious songwriter today. Andy Karpinski, Richard Lounsberry, Robert Rose, and Doc Lovett all stepped up to help with the greeting portion of the event. Making sure everyone had name tags and informational packets as well as just being great representatives with smiles and warm greetings. During the exiting we all worked together to collect the contact forms and take as many individual pictures as possible. Brian is going to work on getting these photos all up on the JPF site in the near future so keep a look out on the various JPF site pages for these. Im hoping that a member who was in attendance will be able to help us by putting together a synopsis of the presented material and cover it with us at the next JPF meeting....Any volunteers? We look forward to seeing you all at the first Chapter meeting of the season to be held Feb. 29th 04 at Johnny G's 5915 Memorial Hwy. Tampa 813-584-0853. Hey Al, I took notes on the entire presentation by Michael Lasko and I have all the bullets he went through noted on paper - the important points.
I can give a synopsis of this stuff at the next meeting if you'd like. L, Cindy N2S
