I have posted this song before it was written on Sept 9th, 2001 48 hours prior to the attacks of 9-11

I remember working through the night into the 10th as well.
Then I went to work on the 11th and witnessed planes fly about 200 feet or lower over my head right into the Twin Towers. I'll never forget that day as long as I live.
The distant but close enough images of people leaping out the windows and the fire & smoke. Then the crumbling down... I can still picture it clearly in my mind.

I kept waiting for the fighter jets to come figuring they will shoot the second plane out of the sky right over my head to prevent from hitting it's target. But they were too late.

Not until months later did I realize some of the things I was saying in the song.
I even remember afterwards the President on TV saying something about "pulling the curtain down"

I lost my friend & old lead singer that day as well as others. All of us lost something that day.

It’s okay
Really doesn't matter now
Everything has changed
It doesn’t really matter how
It’s okay
Try to be stronger now

(Chorus)
There’s no hero in disguise
No savior in your eyes
When you’re falling

Though it’s hard to hide
The pain inside
I’m unbroken

It’s okay
Really doesn’t matter now
Soon fade away
Gonna bring the curtain down
It’s okay
Try to be stronger now

There’s no hero in disguise
No savior in your eyes
When you’re falling

Though it’s hard to hide
The pain inside
I’m unbroken

(Solo)

There’s no hero in disguise
No savior in your eyes
When you’re falling

Though it’s hard to hide
The pain inside
I’m unbroken

It’s okay
Really doesn’t matter now
Everything has changed
It doesn’t really matter how
It’s okay

Powerful song and great production. This song really drives it home. Great contrast between the verse and the chorus. Is that you singing? It is really sounds good. Harmonies kick in at the perfect time. Guitar tone was good, too. Hard to find anything wrong here!! Excellent.

Thanks Louis & Kevin

It was that long ago already..... hard to believe!

Yes I was really feeling it on the acoustic, I had such a good pocket on it and tempo that the song just fell right into place so easily. Locking the bass in was a breeze I can appreciate all that as it does not happen that often.

My friend Brian (18) at the time sang this one. He could just go places vocally that I can't and still can't. He wasn't as comfortable in the lower register opening as me, but once he left it oh boy smile So it was worth the little opening to get where we were going.

My favorite is the solo section. I didn't know what I was gonna do so I just felt it to be sparse and spacious and just falling into a pocket with everything else.
One of of the few times maybe even only time I ever did a dive on the whammy bar smile

Thanks!

I write & complete songs SO un-often that this was just kinda haunting to me later on. I mean it could be exactly about what happened, kinda scary.

Nothing special lyrically here, and if I mention one thing to make it have more substance there goes the whole connection.

It just knows there's some thing wrong and it will be okay eventually.

The only thing good about 9/11 is that there hasn't been another one since. 9/11 happens to fall on the day before my birthday, on 9/12.

On 9/11, 2001, the day before my 40th birthday, I woke up with severe chest pains around 9 AM central time and learned about the attacks when I read Yahoo news. Then I turned on the TV and started watching. At the time, even thought I realized that the country was under attack, I did really care because I though I was going to die. I really wasn't processing what was happening.

The pain got worse and eventually I called a cab to take me to the hospital, where I stayed for the remainder of the day. Apparently I had had a mild heart attack but this was never confirmed. For a while I thought I was going to die and that the whole world was going to go with me. It is a day I would have never forgotten even if there were no terrorist attacks.

Anyone else remember what you were doing on that sad day?

This happened because I could not spell Seldomly smile LOL

I prefer how I professionally tore up this track. Does the acoustic have enough feel for you brother? smile

Brian did a great job on a few songs for me. When I put a singer on my song and submit it I include the singers name etc... I figure maybe they will find an interest in the singer if not the song. Brian was a little too theatrical vocally and naturally went on to sing on Broadway & other places.
Although Clive did point out in the return letter complimenting Brian's vocal.
That may have been the only time he's ever done that.

Thanks!

Good Evening Mike

How are you? I haven't been on much lately, this Aussie girl has been so busy, they have started to train me up, to be an Assistant Manager, so I am working a lot of night shifts, cleaning house, taking care of my family, cooking, etc, hmmm, plus working on my next song, very tiring hah.

Any way, love the song, whistle so well done, and yeah, I still remember that day very clearly. cry I can't remember what I was doing that day it happened, all I can remember is seeing it on the NEWS, so horrific, that it will live in my memory until I die. frown To see it on the News was bad enough, let alone be close enough to see it happen, would of been tough for you hah. I really feel for you, and for all those who lost there loved ones, and to witness that would of been horrible. frown

Big hugs, and thanks for sharing.

Michele
Aussie friend & fan

Wow - you're right, Sub - it's amazing how well this fits the feeling many had after the attacks. That must have been a weird feeling when you made that realization....

This really is a testimonial to your ability to write a song that can fit any number of different situations. That's an amazing skill....

Yeah, Brian has pipes smile

Hard to believe it's been that long.....

Quite something. The timing was remarkable. I like the song. It has a nice easy mood - not depressing - just quiet and thoughtful and intropective. The music really works with the lyrics on this. I like the dynamics.

Hi Mike

Nice Production! And a fitting song for today. This song is good as is. I would like to hear a little more going on with the backing vocals. Like some Beatlesque "Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh" harmonies on the build-up parts, and my ear wanted a little analog synth line weaving through the verses. But that's just my taste.

Keep rockin'!

Hi Mike,

It gives up its message very simply, but powerfully. Well done, all the way around.
