FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 23, 2008 Announcing a full day of FREE Music Industry Workshops and Panels Saturday, December 6th, from 10:00 am to 8 pm, presented in conjunction with the 3rd annual L.A. Women In Music Fundraising Holiday Bazaar. The Workshops/Panels are hosted by the Coalition of Southern California Music Organizations (COSMO) and Just Plain Folks Songwriters. This community event takes place at the Professional Musician’s Local #47, 817 N. Vine Street, Hollywood, CA. The daylong festivities feature panels on Radio Placement, Press and PR, Songwriting Skills, Film and TV Placement Opportunities, Production and Recording Tips, plus Managing the Emotional Ups and Downs of the Industry. There are specific workshops for On-Line Promotion of Live Shows, Vocals, Performance, and Songcraft. Speakers include KCRW’s Eric J. Lawrence, Music Connection’s Bernard Baur, International Vocal Specialist/Author Liz Howard, Producer/Director Eric Mofford, and hit writers Harriet Schock, Pamela Oland and Alan O’Day. ONE-ON-ONE MENTORING with industry pros is also being offered in 15 minute increments. Sign-ups for mentoring are on a first come, first serve basis starting at 10:00 am, the morning of the event. THE DEBUT OF "Pitch-A-Song" is from 6 to 8pm. Songwriters and composers can submit their recorded songs for consideration of placement by top industry professionals, buyers of music who are looking for placement. The fee to submit your song demo for the Pitch-A-Song is $10.00, or $15.00 at the door. To download a Pitch-A-Song entry form, visit www.LAWIM.com.
