Santa brought the PA head,I bought the speakers and new cables. One benefit of being old enough that people don't know what to buy me so they give me cash.

Thanks John! I am sure there will be some interesting sounds until the PA and I get used to each other.

Happy New Year! The Carvin PA arrived late yesterday so I will be setting it up for sound today. 500 watts with lots of bells and whistles. I will put a picture up later on today. I am looking forward to seeing everyone.

Due to my technical inabilities I can't post pictures here. I tried the copy and paste thing but for some reason it doesn't work for me. I hooked up the Carvin PA yesterday and it is awesome. I also am using one of the old Yamaha PA speakers as a floor monitor so we can actually hear what we are playing. Thanks to Kevin Thomas and Andy Karpinski for teaching me about sound. I am a sneaky student. I learn more by watching and listening than by asking. I also want to thank John Daubert on the tip about being off pitch with a new PA. See ya all on the 11th of January.

Jeff, Thanks! On this side of the Bay two of the best open mic hosts are Keving Thomas & Scotty Lee Rexroat. They are performance wizards and excellent sound men. Scotty Lee runs the open mic at Jolli Mons in Dunedin and Kevin hosts @ Beaks & Chappy's in St.Pete trading hosting duties with Steve Arvey. Both open mic's are on Wednesday nights. Beaks 7- 11pm. Jolli Mons.7-10 pm.

After some serious thought I bought a new monitor speaker for the new PA. Everything will match sound wise as well as look better. A very special thanks to Dan Copeland for letting me use his PA over the past two years!

The new P.A. is too cool for school. I really like those combo cabs and am looking forward to hearing it and performing through it. I'm not sure if Becky will be up to it as she just had a knee replacement before Christmas and is just now going from a walker to a cane, but I'll be there though. For the size of venues that I play at the self powered one will work the best. The head weighs 20 lbs and the speakers are 26 lbs each. Everything is small enough so that I don't have to kill myself during set up & take down. I am also sending along some good wishes for Ms.Becky.

I'll be bringing my Buddy Phillip and he'll share a few of his originals as well. I'll have the camcorder all charged up too. If there's anyone who does not want to be filmed please let me know at the beginning. Also if anyone could bring bongos or even a tamborine for percussion on my songs it would be much appreciated.

Yes, that was a lot of fun and Jerry's new P.A. had a very clear transparent sound. There are some really good artists in the group.

Well I've got the audio part almost ready, I'm just steroizing it, removing some hiss, sirens, and plates clinking in the background etc. Then I'll sync it up to the video. The film itself is over four hours long and took just over two DVDs to fit it onto. It's all amazing to listen to and watch. Now I can put a face and song to all of your names. I have a lot of video editing to do and I suspect the final version will be ready before the next showcase. Then we'll do it all over again. Next time I'm going to film from different angles and do some zooming to keep things dynamic. Some initial stats: At least 13 artists performed 48 songs. This is all great music, perfect for listening to in your car or IPOD. It's something I've been wanting to do for a long time. Right now all the songs are in .wav format to maintain quality but if you'd like to hear your set before the final mix is done, just IM or email me and I'll send it to you in MP3 format. I won't be uploading any of the songs or video(except mine)to youtube or anywhere else because they belong to you but I will make CDs and DVDs of the whole showcase available when it's all completed. If you want to donate some blank CD and DVD media all the better but not required, I'm just happy to re-live the day through these recordings and that's priceless. I'm sure you will find them to be the same.

Q, Thanks for your hard work on this. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product. I'd be happy to get some burnable DVDs to you. Send me a note and we'll figure out how to hook up. Thanks again, Mike Worrall http://www.myspace.com/mikeworrall

Audio MP3s are ready. I've already sent Scotty's and Colin's. Let me know if they downloaded and played guys. Jerry and Mike I sent you an IM. Anybody else who want's theirs just IM me here or on MysPace. They will also be available on CD at some point for those who would rather get them in that format. The sound quality is a little better on CD so they say but my ears are pretty much shot so I can't really tell the difference.
Cheers.
